Mystery probably resolved. Sarah Sodt, Seattle Landmarks Preservation Board Coordinator explains:

The list of landmarks on the Department of Neighborhoods' web page should include all landmarks designated by the Landmarks Preservation Board—there may be a few recent designations that have not been added.

The Table of Historical Landmarks found in the Seattle Municipal Code

only lists those landmarks that have a signed Controls and Incentives

agreement which has been codified in a designating ordinance.

The complete designation process is a four step process: nomination by

the Landmarks Preservation Board (LPB), then designation by the LPB, then Controls and Incentives agreement negotiation (an agreement signed by owner and City Historic Preservation Officer, and approved by the LPB), and finally the approval of the designating ordinance by City Council. Sometimes the Controls and Incentives negotiation process takes some time, which is why the Table of Historical Landmarks is shorter than the

list on DON's web site.

So the alphabetical DON list is as authoritative as the Table of Historical Landmarks and generally more comprehensive (albeit not always promptly updated with additions). - Jmabel | Talk 04:37, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
