change redirect edit

{{editprotected}} Could this either be a redirect to List of rocket and mortar attacks in Israel in 2009 following the Gaza War or a disambig page to the current and the new one? At the time of the AfD decision to redirect to Timeline of the 2008–2009 Israel–Gaza conflict it only covered the events of what is now named the Gaza War. That timeline article had been including everything since, it has now been split so that the original timeline article only covers up to the end of the Gaza War and the later events at List of rocket and mortar attacks in Israel in 2009 following the Gaza War. Hmm, I am wary of overriding the conclusion of an WP:AfD discussion. Furthermore the result of that discussion would seem to apply to the title List of rocket and mortar attacks in Israel in 2009 following the Gaza War as well (although I appreciate the reasons for splitting Timeline of the 2008–2009 Israel–Gaza conflict). Therefore I believe this would benefit from a listing at WP:DRV. I would welcome any thoughts from others on this though. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:11, 5 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

RfC: Move here and merge to new list: List of rocket and mortar attacks in Israel in 2009 following the Gaza War and the respective events from Gaza War edit

I recently came across the page List of rocket and mortar attacks in Israel in 2009, which is a redirect to the page Timeline of the Gaza War. I found it very strange that List of rocket and mortar attacks in Israel in 2009 is a redirect to this page since there is a different page namely List of rocket and mortar attacks in Israel in 2009 following the Gaza War that contains much more completely what any wikipedia viewer would want had they typed 'list of rocket and mortar attacks in Israel 2009' into the search. I went to change this thinking it was just a mistake when I found the page was protected for some reason. I don't think the page List of rocket and mortar attacks in Israel in 2009 should be deleted, but rather that it should be changed so that the redirect is removed and the contents of the page List of rocket and mortar attacks in Israel in 2009 following the Gaza War be placed within List of rocket and mortar attacks in Israel in 2009. The page List of rocket and mortar attacks in Israel in 2009 following the Gaza War could then be deleted. The reason why I think this should be done this way is because there is already the lengthy page List of rocket and mortar attacks in Israel in 2008. It makes sense to stick with the same naming convention instead of adding the extraneous addition 'following the Gaza War'.Chhe (talk) 01:12, 7 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I just placed an Rfc tag above to get opinions from over people regarding the suggestion I made above.Chhe (talk) 21:35, 8 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Support, rationale is convincing. Header for RfC section added. Skäpperöd (talk) 06:37, 16 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
move and merge no reason to have two pages for the same year. untwirl(talk) 17:31, 29 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Support Jalapenos do exist (talk) 21:39, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Support. There should be one page with "List of .... in 200x". The page should have separate sections for attacks before and after the Gaza war with a short explanation of how the war changed things. Joe407 (talk) 13:32, 1 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • I think this page needs to be a disambig page pointing to both the Gaza War timeline and the the list of after the Gaza War. nableezy - 21:19, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
    • FYI, ten seconds ago I asked at ANI for this page to be unprotected so we can implement the merge. I assumed that it would be uncontentious since there was a unamimous consensus for it. Obviously it's not unamimous anymore. If you think your opposite position could possibly make the unprotect request contentious, you may want to point that out at ANI. I dont, I asked for this to be done a long time ago (look at the section above) and I agree that having this as a redirect to the Timeline article is wrong. I just think it would be best if we have such an article to have it actually direct users to what they are looking for, which in this case is split up among both the Timeline article and the following the Gaza War article. nableezy - 21:44, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
That could be achieved by having the first section of this article be called "January 1-18" and have it say "see Gaza War#Palestinian paramilitary activity". Jalapenos do exist (talk) 22:02, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thats fine by me. Honestly I dont think any of these articles should exist per WP:NOTNEWS but that aint going to happen. So whatever yall want to do, my beef was the redirect to the timeline article. nableezy - 22:22, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I did the merger after having read King of Hearts unprotection. I assumed we pretty much had consensus because everyone agreed except partially by nableezy (assuming I understood his explanation properly). If someone thinks we didn't have consensus just undo what I did and we can discuss it some more.Chhe (talk) 23:48, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

And I did the referral to Gaza War thing. Jalapenos do exist (talk) 10:39, 9 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

heads up edit

i removed everything that didn't related to the title of this page, but i don't want to lose all those refs. Much of the info could go into List of Israeli attacks on Gaza, 2009, but that's a red link. i could use a little help if anyone wants to create that page. thanks. untwirl(talk) 21:54, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

1 February edit

Can these items be cited, and checked that they are not duplicatein oen another? particularly the two starting "Palestinian militants in Gaza fired at least XX Qassam rockets and YY mortar shells at southern Israel."
