New article on Birketts
editThere are not Wikipedia articles on, or listing, the Birketts.--Britishfinance (talk) 12:03, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
Not sure I agree with removing Lake District in title
edituser:PamD I don't think we should be shortening the name to Birketts. For example, this is not a list of Birkett family members? I think it is important to clarify that this is a location-specific article (at minimum). List of Birketts to too short and can be confused with other things. - @Britishfinance: I'd agree with putting the word mountains in there somewhere, but to say "in Lake District" implies that there are others outside the Lake District. Possibly "List of Birketts (mountains)"? Or just leave until anyone called "Birkett" objects! PamD 13:55, 13 October 2018 (UTC)
- Ah, that makes sense now. Maybe leave it for the moment then. I am doing an upgrade of tables on mountains in the British Isles (finally discovered how to automatically add links in excel, so am fixing that too so all table entries are linked to their article and counties etc.). I promised Nick Moyes (who is a climber himself) I would come back when finished for checking, but also ensure that the naming structures are consistent. I can do the "heavy lifting" of downloading these tables and creating new articles where none exist (e.g. Grahams, Donalds, Corbetts, Munros, Murdos etc.), but would be great if experienced editors like yourself and Nick can bring them up to full standard once done. Wainwrights that are not Birketts
editAll the prominence figures in the table are very wrong. They are so wrong as to be laughable. There is a request not to edit this table unless it is downloaded in its entirety from DoBIH. I can't see a specific table in the Database of British and Irish Hills so I shall edit this table using the figures from that website. Perhaps someone with more skill and knowledge than I can download the particular table. But in that case I ask that the resulting download is checked very carefully. Whilst it is important that all facts be cited, it does us no favours to include obvious nonsense no matter how good the citation. OrewaTel (talk) 00:15, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
The column headings were wrong. The column labelled "Prominence m" was actually "Height ft" and "Height ft" was over the "Prominence m" column. This has been fixed. OrewaTel (talk) 09:48, 7 May 2023 (UTC)
There are 5 entries in this table. They are all Wainwrights but three of them also appear in the Birkett list.
- Baystones is Birkett 360
- Armboth Fell is Birkett 367
- Graystones is Birkett 382
Can someone explain please. 10:07, 7 May 2023 (UTC)
