Excessive page length

edit

This list is far, far too long. It increased in size from 183 bytes to 412k bytes in this edit by Mitchazenia. While it was good to reorganize the table, I think a lot of that information is just not needed in a list article. The routes that serve/previously served the station? Belongs on the station's article. Same with the closed date. Not sure why the station code was taken out of a column and put in parentheses. We should all analyze List of MBTA Commuter Rail stations for a standard, as it's rated as a Featured list. Visual editing will be invaluable when fixing this list. –Daybeers (talk) 07:15, 3 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. Station code should be a separate column. Open/close/rebuild dates (which are far too complicated for a list like this, and would require hundreds of citations) and date of agency closure (utterly unrelated to this topic) should go. (Date of closure might be okay for closed stations, but even that is iffy.) Former services should not be shown, though current services only may be worthwhile keeping. See previous discussion at Talk:List of Amtrak stations/Archive 1#Page length. Mackensen (talk) 12:20, 3 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
For something of that size, splitting by state would be totally reasonable. ―cobaltcigs 02:28, 22 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Suspended stations are effectively former stations

edit

It's been over 16 years since the Sunset Limited had service suspended on its eastern end - how much longer are we going to continue to pretend that these stations aren't effectively closed? I propose, in part to shorten the length of this article, that we move these to the List of former Amtrak stations. -MJ (talk) 05:58, 27 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
