Album? edit

Would it be a good idea to create a page of Whelchel's album?

Question about statement edit

I'm a little dubious about part of the following paragraph: (The part I'm doubtful on is in bold)

"In May 2006, Whelchel unwittingly appeared (along with her Facts of Life co-stars, Nancy McKeon and Mindy Cohn) on a gay and lesbian radio station called SIRIUS OutQ (where she was interviewed by gay comedian Frank DeCaro). This caused ripples of controversy through her primarily Christian fanbase, some of whom considered her voluntary appearance on the show a silent endorsement of homosexuality. Whelchel stated she did not know it was a gay station until halfway through the interview."

As well-known as she is, I would remember hearing any criticism/concern expressed (especially by Dr. Dobson, whose Focus on the Family ministry helped publish at least two of her books). To my knowledge, I don't remember hearing anything about it until I came to this page one day last year. WAVY 10 18:29, 20 July 2007 (UTC)\\Reply

Here's something about it on her own site -- http://www.lisawhelchel.com/journal/archives/2006_05_12.html . I hadn't heard about it either, so I did a Yahoo search and was surprised to find a few mentions about it. It was one of four scheduled stops that day to promote the FOL DVD. However, I'm not sure it caused any "ripples" in her fanbase. It just caused more people to go out and buy the DVD. :o)

Hot-saucing edit

A few years ago, she stirred some controversy as an advocate of "hot-saucing," i.e., making her children taste a small amount of Tabasco sauce (or some other similar product) as punishment whenever they used foul language or told a lie. I didn't see anything about that during a cursory check of her Website. Does she still advocate hot-saucing? 66.234.222.23 (talk) 05:30, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • I have removed this reference from the article as it is unsourced and a blatant violation of WP:BLP without a verifiable citation (and the above IP comment includes none). While I was at it I removed the reference to her being a ventriloquist as dubious based on the fact the article makes no reference to this beyond the intro. Not exactly in the same BLP league as the other thing. If someone can present a verifiable media source for either, please feel free to put it back. 68.146.70.177 (talk) 17:01, 10 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
If anyone cares to restore the reference to "hot saucing, " go to Google Books with search terms: Creative Correction: Extraordinary Ideas for Everyday Discipline By Lisa Whelchel tabasco. If you put it in, footnote with a link.
I don't know how much controversy a drop of tabasco on the tongue can cause, but she definitely endorses the practice. 70.173.183.85 (talk) 04:48, 24 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Homeschooling her children edit

The third paragraph in Section 1.1 begins with the sentence: "She is seldom seen in acting roles today, as she is busy raising and homeschooling her children." In the very next section, it indicates that she is the mother of three children, the youngest of whom was born in 1992 - making that child either 19 or 20 years old. It doesn't make sense that she would still be "home-schooling" her college-aged children, who are in fact no longer children at all, but rather young adults. Methinks some editing is in order. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.73.47.9 (talk) 06:39, 4 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Change of last name spelling edit

Wasn't her last name spelled "Welchel" when she was starring in The Facts of Life? Some detail about the name spelling change would be great.--Aichikawa (talk) 23:33, 17 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Nope. It's always been the same spelling ([1]) --Musdan77 (talk) 04:25, 18 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
