Schmeltzer vs. Shmeltzer

I've seen the name spelled both ways. In the introduction to the video Gelt he speaks his name and it is spelled out on the screen at the same time with a "c" as SCHMELTZER. --AStanhope 20:35, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

His legal surname is Schmelczer, as it was spelled in Europe. It is usually spelled Schmeltzer on his albums, credits etc.

"I had a dream" video - real?

Can somebody verify that this is indeed an official video and not just a couple of teenagers in London screwing around with a video camera? It isn't Schmeltzer in the video, it is fairly amateurish and doesn't adhere to the apparent standards of the other videos. --AStanhope 17:33, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Not real at all. It's an amateur work that does not feature Lipa and is most likely unauthorized. Probabaly even violates the copyright. --Kotzker 03:20, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

Gelt - Six Flags spoof

Isn't the song for the Six Flags spoof "Gelt," though? I realize that it isn't *the* Gelt video, but I think it is *a* Gelt video. --AStanhope 03:11, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

As far as I can tell, the spoof has nothing to do with Gelt. Calling it that is misleading, since there is an actual Gelt video. --Kotzker 03:19, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

Big Event cancellation

"Lipa backed out of a concert... after R' Yosef Rosenblaum of Boro Park sat down with Lipa to discuss and explain the issues involved."

That is a massive simplification that completely misses out why the event was so important. Even the reference quoted makes mention of the public ban on the concert and the controversy around it. The [not big] Event live.

On March 1, 2009 Lipa tried once again with the event. This time prior to advertising he spoke to rabbanim and rabbis about how it should be. The event sold 3/4 of its tickets before February 28, 2009. There was very little empty seats. It was held in the WaMU theater in MAdison Square Gardens. There was seperate seating and it featured many other singers including Dedi, Eli gerstner and his Peirchei Boys Choir, Abei Rottenberg and the suprise visit of Mordechai Ben David /MBD. Please add more to this. Forty children

I plan to correct the misspelling of forty in the statement that he and his wife have forty children. However, I searched the internet and found nothing even suggesting he has forty children. Langauges He Writes In (and citation formatting request)

I just made this edit, removing "Russian, Arabic, Hindu, Surinamese" from the list of languages he writes in. I initially was going to just fix the formatting (since that whole string linked to Hebrew language), but when I looked around for a source and found one, on a quick skim I only found "English, Hebrew, and Yiddish". If someone does have a source for the other languages -- OR if they are mentioned elsewhere in the source and I missed that, which someone might want to check -- then they should put them back.

Also, I added the link to the reference, but probably formatted incorrectly. I just added the URL plain after the citation. Someone should probably fix how it is displayed. 192.54.222.28 (talk) 14:53, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

Dubious birth place

An anonymous editor (here) added "birth_place = New Square, New York" to the infobox. This is highly unlikely since New Square lacks a hospital and I doubt that he was born at home. -- -- -- 20:23, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
