Please explain what is needed for a cleanup, or do not tag an article (except if its SOOOO obvious). Royalbroil 05:13, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Is there a series or sanctioning body or anything that runs these kinds of cars? Recury 19:10, 19 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Images edit

I added a series of images from a race that I went to. They first ran after dark, so crops of the best images aren't too great. Please upload a better set images if you can. I'd like to see a picture of each body style. If you know the body styles, please add a caption below each image that I added (or that you have photographed yourself). Can I put some better images on there? --Northman123 00:33, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I had requested better pictures, so of course. I finally saw some more legend car racing, so I uploaded much better pictures. I think it would be great to see an example photograph of each body type.
The article was full of peacock terms, unsourced claims, and promotion for tracks, so I made major edits. Royalbroil 15:50, 11 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Series that race legends edit

I'm am going to do some research to find a list of the series that run Legend cars besides the 600racing sanctioned series. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fisha695 (talkcontribs).

There are few tracks in Wisconsin that run legends, and I don't know any that are sanctioned. I think it is on a track-by-track basis. Royalbroil 06:30, 17 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Legends sanctioned edit

Hi, I race and own two legends cars so I know a little about them. All of the Legends races in wisconsin are sanctioned by INEX. INEX is the sanctioning body and 600 racing is the manufacturer, they are both operated by the same people. I have not heard of races not sanctioned by INEX with the exception of a couple down in Illinois and I do not believe they drew many cars. By the way I want to thank everyone for their time and hard work on the site. The racing schedule at 600racing.com does not always reflect the latest schedules so it would be nice to actually have some external links showing the different states where you can catch a Legends race, I know some people did get carried away on the external links and used it for advertising.

Thank you and good luck, Northman123 (talk) 22:42, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

No insult intended if any was taken. I am keeping track, and I have attended races at 14 tracks throughout the eastern half of Wisconsin so far this year, and the only one that had legends was Beaver Dam. All the photos used in this article are from that event. I don't remember them mentioning a sanctioning body. Obviously you know more about legends cars than I do.
On the wikipedia it is not important or helpful to show the latest schedules as "Wikipedia is not a collection of external links or Internet directories". People love to get carried away with a list of links - so we should keep the external links to a minimum and not show the states where you can attend a legends race. I frequently have to remove external links to driver's websites and every track on the globe off of Wikipedia. Royalbroil 19:39, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I race my legends cars at Beaver Dam,Wisconsin and all of those Legends races are sanctioned by INEX, we get national points from INEX for all the Charter Raceway races. If you look at the 600racing.com site they show Pro, semi-pro and master classes in dirt points and they have Charter raceway on there for the Wisconsin drivers. There is a local series sponsor "Gibsville Cheese" and sometimes that is what you here more often then "INEX" but they are still santioned by INEX. The local series sponsor is just a way for the track to raise more funds to help it operate. Thank you! Northman123 11-23-2007

Thanks for the explanation. It was not apparent from the fan's point of view (at least someone who attended one event). Your comments make sense. I enjoyed Charter Raceway Park. I sure you meant "Gibbsville Cheese". Royalbroil 22:58, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Gibbsville Cheese,Yes my mistake,thanks Northman123 (talk) 22:41, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Further cleanup edit

I will be adding sections regarding the championships here in the UK, as well as photos I have taken here in Scotland. I know Canada also races them, but do not know who else does. Boothy m 09:22, 14 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I wasn't aware that the cars were raced outside of the United States! Please also cleanup any U.S.-centric view in the article. It would be nice to see photos of each car body if you have photos of any bodies not pictured. Royalbroil 18:05, 14 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have changed the article a lot, I noticed the history is basically a copy and paste from the 600 racing site. If you could help me with the USA/Canada side of things that'd be great, I appreciate that the USA section will be larger than the others so if you are able to do a summary of the American Legends that'd be awesome! Thanks! Boothy m (talk) 01:30, 26 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Great job on the edits! I don't have anything more to add about the U.S. right now. As for the history section, edits can be quite simular to other websites but they should not be word for word. You can't copyright a thought but you can copyright exact wording. See Wikipedia:Copyrights#Using_copyrighted_work_from_others for a better explanation. Are they an exact copy? Royalbroil 05:19, 26 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Since it was nearly a copyright violation, I rewrote the section and referenced it. Royalbroil 05:32, 26 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Can we leave the youtube link in please, by all means remove those from various US states (otherwise we'd have lots of links appearing) but that video is especially good as it's about the only video I've seen on youtube that allows people to see exactly what the Legends are like! Thanks. Boothy m (talk) 23:13, 26 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
There were several reasons that I removed that particular external link. Concern areas from the external link guideline: 1) Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. If you know that an external Web site is carrying a work in violation of the creator's copyright, do not link to that copy of the work. Linking to a page that illegally distributes someone else's work sheds a bad light on Wikipedia and its editors. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. 2) Several under the section "Links normally to be avoided": a) #1 Any site that does not provide a unique resource beyond what the article would contain if it became a Featured article. b) #5 Links to sites that primarily exist to sell products or services. 3) Linking to YouTube, Google Video, and similar sites: There is no blanket ban on linking to these sites as long as the links abide by the guidelines on this page (which would be infrequent).
I am concerned about the copyright of the video. Youtube links are rarely kept because of the questionable legality. Royalbroil 05:06, 27 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Body Styles edit

Just been watching a race from two days ago at the UK's Croft circuit. One Nathan Anthony was racing a '34 Ford van-bodied vehicle, which suggests that the list may be out of date. Mr Larrington (talk) 18:35, 1 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
