Fauna listing Tyrannosaurs that aren't Tyrannosaurs edit

While reading the article's section on Fauna it states: ". In Laramidia the top of the terrestrial food chain was occupied by the tyrannosaurine tyrannosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus rex, Edmontosaurus and Acrocanthosaurus.". First of all, Acrocanthosaurus was not a part of the tyrannosaur family. It was part of Carcharodontosauridae. Why not, instead of listing an animal more from Appalachia during a time when there was no seaway(Early Cretaceous), you list ones from Laramidia when there was a sea way, for example: Albertosaurus, Nanotyrannus, Gorgosaurus, and Daspletosaurus to name a few. Theres also the mention of Edmontosaurus. Edmontosaurus was not even a Theropod but an Ornithischian; a prey item of T-rex. How Edmontosaurus could be named as a Tyrannosaur or even a predator of any kind is beyond me. Then there is the unnecessary mention of Dryptosaur inhabitation of Appalachia and the terrible grammar of the rest of the paragraph.

Given the likelihood that it was probably hastily edited by an overzealous child/someone with no knowledge of the subject and overlooked by editors, I'll just edit it with proper taxa instead and fix the last part of the paragraph to not sound like a bad game of telephone. --50.136.104.227 (talk) 17:06, 26 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

What's it named after ? edit

I'm a bit confused.

Supposedly, Laramidia is named after Laramie, Wyoming.

Why?

Laramie was almost dead center in the Western Interior Seaway and the western state line of Wyoming may or may not have been on the dry land of Laramidia (very hard to see/tell in the graphic); and, Laramie is in eastern Wyoming.

In other words, the "logic" or reason of naming Laramidia after Laramie, WY, is not clear (if not just plain missing). 2600:8800:784:8F00:C23F:D5FF:FEC4:D51D (talk) 08:53, 28 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Just a guess, but it may refer to the Laramide orogeny rather than Laramie. I don't have the original source available but if someone can verify it, we can correct the article. It may well be that an editor extrapolated the source. --Kent G. Budge (talk) 14:36, 28 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
