Talk:Lagniappe (newspaper)

Unreferenced edit

Stub class article that makes claims without attribtion (specifically regarding awards it has received, number of outlets for distribution, etc.). Notability is questionable, but not so much if we get the claims referenced/verified. /Blaxthos 17:17, 14 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Mobile Press-Register reports on the winners of the Press Club of Mobile awards every year. The 2004 ceremony was definitely the first to honor Lagniappe. /User:Mario500, 21:22, 14 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Excellent. That would be a perfecet source, if we can get the issue(s) in which it's been awarded and add to the article. /Blaxthos 01:53, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Feud" with Sam Jones edit

From these two sources [1] and [2] I think it would be appropriate to have a few sentences describing the animosity between Mayor Jones and the paper. OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:56, 14 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@AntoineHound: This addition violates WP:SYNTH, in that Wikipedia is drawing a connection using two primary sources. (Furthermore, the first source only establishes that he was hired by the city; it seems misleading to say he was "hired by Stimpson," not does either source establish a date of hire. Ok, I';ll try to find a non-violating source. AntoineHound (talk) 16:09, 14 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
We can add some additional information from this article, but let's start from scratch and stick with what's in the source. OhNoitsJamie Talk 16:14, 14 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
First pass:
A Mobile County District Attorney investigation was reported to have been initiated via Lagniappe co-publisher Rob Holbert after Holbert had scheduled a meeting with Chad Tucker, a public relation's representative from the prosecutor's office. Holbert initially denied meeting Tucker until he was told that Tucker had gone on record about the meeting. In the meeting, Holbert is reported discuss Jones's campaign finances with Tucker, who passed the information on to an investigator. The investigation concluded with no charges, characterizing the issue as "little more than some sloppy book keeping." Tucker was later hired to be the campaign manager for Jones's rival Sandy Stimpson. [1]
Thoughts? OhNoitsJamie Talk 16:23, 14 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
That works for me. What about the water board interview refusal article? AntoineHound (talk) 16:24, 14 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Not sure if that adds much; it establishes that he refused at least one interview in a previous position, but not much else. Were you thinking something like:
Jones has refused to be interviewed by the Lagniappe. [2]
Yeah, that will do the trick. AntoineHound (talk) 16:34, 14 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
