I removed the following passage that remained without a citation for months:

We were waiting for you! You are one of the band's biggest fans, and you know this track info blind-folded and by heart. But all you did was gawk, complain, and run, so we finally did it ourselves. Covers

Why are covers and cultural references all over "Cold Gin" but none of the other songs? I guarantee that every other song here has at least one cover done of it and a band named after it. A little consistency, huh? FiggazWithAttitude (talk) 16:21, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

Warren Dewey ENGINEERED the album And Bruce Foster ONLY played piano AND Firehouse was credited like so: Fire engine driven by the magnificent Eddie Solo, Marc Labow and Richie Wise AND you forgot to add some guy called Bobby Claps on Nothin' To Lose. I know because I have the original album So if you don't mind I'm going to go ahead and change the personnel section, thank-you... FM

Heavy metal

@Venomous: as already stated, the source describes the rock/metal scene in general, they are not describing this album as these genres: "Kiss' 1974 debut is one of hard rock/heavy metal's all-time best releases" (i also find it weird that someone would listen to kiss's debut album and somehow conclude that it is heavy metal but that's another topic) --FMSky (talk) 16:15, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

That's purely speculation on your part. Author is literally states that it is one of the best debut albums in the hard rock/heavy metal genre. Trust me, we can do this all night; if you think they are metal or not doesn't matter. There are valid sources for heavy metal on most of the 70's albums, and that is why the heavy metal genre have been included on said albums for many years. It's early metal, not Sabbath exactly but still laid the ground for American metal. I would suggest watching the documentary Metal Evolution, there is a quote; "You can't talk about American metal without talking about Kiss." Venomous (talk) 17:48, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

Now we have a confusing mess where the first album is listed as heavy metal, the 2nd as proto-metal, the 3rd one not listed as metal at all, and the 4th one again as heavy metal.. --FMSky (talk) 17:57, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

I will explain further: 1st album is partly heavy metal, second album is partly (even more than the first) heavy metal. The third album displays basically no heavy metal, therefore heavy metal is not present as a genre. Kiss' sound can vary a lot between albums, so there isn't really a pattern. Dressed to Kill, Rock and Roll Over, and Dynasty for example are not heavy metal at all, only pure hard rock. So some albums display heavy metal, but other albums don't. 1st album is absolutely glam rock, and it is listed. We actually had a discussion over on the KISS Forums how many of the early albums could be considered "glam rock", and the overwhelming majority only listed the first album as glam rock. The second album is far too gritty, that's why it's labeled as proto-punk, which is almost garage rock, most of this comes from the super raw and gritty production. The third one is not nearly as gritty, but very straight hard rock. The first album came out just as "glam rock" had already started to fade, which is why the first album is generally the only glam rock record they did. Venomous (talk) 18:20, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
