Am I asking for too much that the filmog include release dates...? Trekphiler 13:08, 16 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

No, that should only be on the films themselves. ....(Complain)(Let us to it pell-mell) 05:40, 26 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Kevin Kline speaks French edit

67.169.189.226 00:55, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Kevin Kline was so believable in his role as a Frenchman in French Kiss, I could not help wondering is he was part French. From his biography it seems to be 'no'. Did he speak French in the movie, or was it dubbed in? If he spoke it himself, where did he learn French and is it any good?Reply

Yes, Kline's French is pretty good, with only just a hint of American accent. Since I didn't know the actor, he fooled me the first time I saw French Kiss. Kline speaks French again in the movie la Joueuse. Maybe this article can be used as a reference: http://www.cinematical.com/2008/03/30/kevin-kline-turns-french-for-real-this-time/ I just don't know what they refer to when they say "for real this time". In any case, there are many references on the web about Kline's French speaking ability. AugustinMa (talk) 07:40, 26 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

football/soccer comics? edit

hello,
back in the early '90s i spent a month in Glasgow, Scotland where my host had a large pack of black-and-white football/soccer comics. most of the stories were independent from each other, but there was a recurring line of two rival players, appearing in several continuations. one of the players was called Kevin Kline, and he was an exact lookalike of the irl actor, with dark hair and moustache. he was the good boy in the stories, always the fair player, and of course always the winner at the end. unfortunately I forgot the name of the antagonist player (though i guess it was a quite common one, John/Joe or such), but he had blond hair, no moustache or beard, trying to utilizing dirty tricks on the field and always having some shady business outside of it.
did anyone else ever met these comics and does know any relation with the actor? i have tried to track it down on the net a few times, but found nothing so far :/

hello,
update after more than a year :)
it seems I have finally found it. it was a comic series called "Football Picture Story Monthly" which ran from 1986 till 2003
all titles are available here: http://www.britishcomics.20m.com/foottitles.htm
some cover page scans: http://www.britishcomics.20m.com/foot1989-1991.htm
the episodes including the character Kevin Kline are the ones called "A Kline&Powell story" (it seems that apparently the antagonist was called Rodney Powell). on the scanned cover pages one can see the black moustached Kline and the blonde Powell
the first story apparently came in 1990 so it might just happen that they modelled the Kline character from the actor
not too many resources on this subject so far though :(

Just a note about the number of children edit

...since it may come up again, since so many online sites list three, the alleged youngest being an "Autumn Belle Kline" born in December of 2005. You will never find this child mentioned in any official press birth announcements from either Kline's or Cate's PR people. All you will ever find is the same little item repeated over and over, from imdb on. I've tried to get imdb to remove it for some time now, even pleading with them to contact the publicists and/or agents for either actor, to verify. I've tried to figure out how this story got started. The only thing I've been able to come up with is this: A web blog/site, http://www.celebrity-babies.com/ posted an item in June 2005 that Kline and Cates were expecting again after 11 years. A "Victoria" was thanked for the news. In August 2005, celibrity-babies.com printed a retraction of this item, stating that they had heard from Phoebe's PR that it was not true. (A recent search at the site for "Phoebe Cates" resulted in the retraction link at the top of the results, with the original, false announcement just below it.)
Forget the many repeated trivia references to a third child, and consider the evidence of some more legit references to the contrary:
1. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/11/24/fashion/thursdaystyles/24CRITIC.html, dated November 2005, mentions Owen and Greta, but no mention of any pregnancy or impending December birth. Plus this and other articles about Cates and her Blue Tree store state that she opened the shop in October 2005. While it's not out of the realm of possibility, would most pregnant moms open a business just two months prior to the arrival of a newborn?
2. Jump ahead to a USA article/interview about Cates and Blue Tree, dated 3/22/06 (which would have been over three months after the birth of this third child, if she existed): http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2006-03-22-phoebe-cates_x.htm and you will once again find no mention whatsoever of any children other than Owen and Greta. Would it not be strange for such an article to completely omit a third child?
3. Once again, jump a bit farther ahead to a WWD article dated July 2006: http://www.accessmylibrary.com/coms2/summary_0286-16202913_ITM, and again, only Owen and Greta mentioned. If "Autumn Belle" existed, she would have been close to eight months old at this time.
As to how the rumor got so far along that a fictitious child was given a name (let alone a birth date) is hard to say. That embellishment on the story possibly came about, it possibly stems from the idea that this was an early December baby (still in the "Autumn" of the year), and of course Cates' middle name is "Belle".
Conclusion: The only children to date that Kevin Kline and Phoebe Cates have are Owen and Greta, and any references to the contrary should be taken as apocryphal at best.

I've just come across this issue for the first time. I accept your reasoning that there is no third child. However, given that "Autumn Belle" exists in the minds of some people by now, maybe it would be good to explicitly state that reports of her existence are apocryphal and that no such child exists. Many people who've read of "Autumn Belle" would come here and wonder why we make no mention of her. Sometimes we need to say not just "what is" but also "what is not". -- JackofOz (talk) 02:42, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, Jack. I've edited the page to incorporate your suggestion. I didn't want to get too wordy concerning this nonexistent offspring, and hope that I wasn't, and that it was cool to cite this section of the talk page as a reference (rather than wasting space to cite the sources for the reasoning in the article itself). I won't be offended if wiser heads know a better way. I agree that it's probably a good idea to make some mention of it if only to keep people from coming back time and again to add her. 68.53.58.159 (talk) 08:13, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Also, on December 1, 2005, Cates was 42 years old. It's not impossible, but it is unlikely a woman that age would be pregnant. And it's unusual for a couple to have a third child 11 years after the second. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.203.136.240 (talk) 02:41, 14 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Kevin Kline Awards edit

These awards are mentioned under "personal life', suggesting some direction or sponsorship by Kline. However, while the awards are named in Kline's honor, they are sponsored by the Professional Theatre Awards Council. On the awards' official web site, Kline refers to "lending his name" to the award, but sits on the board only as an honorary member. 68.165.204.148 (talk) 11:54, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Personal Life edit

Dated Patti LuPone? If this matters for some reason, you must say why. If you're seeding a list of people Kline has dated, please get on with it. I notice his name does not appear on her page. 173.57.136.229 (talk) 16:46, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Dave". "In and Out", "Pink Panther" edit

Very strange that you did not mention one of Kline's best movies, Dave, his most controversial one, In and Out and his absolutlely worst one, the remake of The Pink Panther —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.88.188.242 (talk) 19:46, 26 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

History edit

I was born in 65 , my grandmother used to take me to The Record Bar, Toy store. I always thought that my Grandma Mrs. Mesker, joked about meeting Kevin Kline through the toy store.

I guess she really did.

So I must say thank you Kevin for your extremely wonderful movies, but more important, thank you for your father,

he always tried to get me into the educational games, and he succeeded! I loved his toy store more than any other at that time! And there were some big ones in Boston at that time.

College friendship with one of the Patty Hearst kidnappers edit

Hi. Kline was a close friend of one of the Patty Hearst kidnappers (Angela de Angelis) while at university.

I think this is pretty interesting and worthy fact, but my edit was removed.

What do other people think? Seeking consensus.
