Improved Professional career section edit

Hi, my name is Meghan and I would like to help fix this article by making it more neutral and fully sourced. It should be known that I am employed by Fidelity Investments, so I have a financial conflict of interest. I have familiarized myself with the rules surrounding this circumstance and will always state my conflict of interest, never edit articles directly where I have a COI, and post only to Talk pages. I have good intentions and want to make fair, neutral edits to the article. In full disclosure, in the past, Fidelity was not aware of these rules and someone from the company did edit this page; that account is not active and I am the only person on Wikipedia authorized by Fidelity at this time.

I realize that the whole article needs work in terms of neutrality and sourcing, so to start, I've drafted an improved "Professional career" section below.

Murphy began her career as a healthcare attorney at Aetna, at age 27.[1][2] She held different positions in legal and government affairs during her 15 years at Aetna, including general counsel and chief administrative officer of the financial-services arm.[3][2] When the division was sold to ING Group in 2000,[2] Murphy became group president of ING Worksite and Institutional Financial Services.[4] She later became chief executive officer of ING U.S. Wealth Management.[3][5]
Murphy has served as the president of the Personal Investments division at Fidelity Investments for 10 years, as of January 2019.[3][2] In her role, she oversees the management of $2.5 trillion in approximately 20 million individual client accounts. She also leads around 14,000 employees in the U.S.[3] At Fidelity, Murphy initiated the start of offering low-cost index funds.[2][6] During Murphy's tenure, Fidelity has changed the way it works with and serves women, by placing a focus on helping women manage their finances and start investing, rather than saving money.[3][7][8]
Fortune listed Murphy as a Woman of Power in 2010[9] and one of the 50 Most Powerful Women in 2007;[10] she remains on the list, as of 2018.[1] In 2013, Murphy was featured on American Banker's 25 Most Powerful Women in Finance.[11]
Murphy serves on the Board of Directors for the New York-based Markle Foundation and the National Football Foundation, where she is also vice chair.[3][12] She is on the Board of Governors of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).[12]

I'm hoping to get some feedback from editors and work together to make this article better. If any editors have questions, let's chat! Thank you. FidelityMJ (talk) 20:18, 11 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

@FidelityMJ: I added most of it as it seems fine and checks out. Better than the current article at least. I found some of the stuff about her current position unnecessary puffery and don't have WSJ access to verify the contents. You wrote that during her tenure, Fidelity has done X and Y with index funds and treatment of women, but you stop short of giving her credit. Unless she did stuff directly, probably more appropriate for the Fidelity page. TarkusABtalk/contrib 19:53, 18 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Done Thank you, @TarkusAB: for your helpful feedback and taking the time to make the article better. I'm curious to know, is there a reason for removing Murphy's title from the infobox? Thanks! FidelityMJ (talk) 13:24, 15 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Improve the article's introduction edit

Hi, Meghan from Fidelity here. I'd like to open up a discussion regarding the introduction of the article. I have a conflict of interest as an employee of Fidelity and will only post to the talk page.

There is a tag in the introduction to add a citation after the first paragraph, but there doesn't seem to be sourcing to support that specific statement. There is also a list of awards that would probably be best suited in the "Professional career" section along with the other awards already mentioned, some of which are duplicated from the introduction. Below, I've drafted an improved introduction that better summarizes the article and is supported by the references cited throughout.

Kathleen Murphy is a business executive in the financial sector. She is the president of Fidelity Personal Investing, a unit of Fidelity Investments. Murphy has received recognition for her roles in banking and as a woman in business.

I really appreciate the feedback and constructive assistance I've received so far from the editors on this page and I hope we can continue to work together to improve the article. If any editors have questions, let's chat! Thank you. FidelityMJ (talk) 13:26, 15 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi TarkusAB, your feedback on this page has been very helpful over the last few months. If you have the time and interest, I'm curious to see you if you have any feedback or thoughts on this particular request to make the introduction a little less promotional and better supported with quality sourcing. Thanks in advance! FidelityMJ (talk) 13:59, 6 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Fixing incorrect middle name edit

Hi, BacktoSchoolForever0700 I noticed that you added Kathleen Murphy's middle name to the article back in September. Her name is spelled "Ann" instead of "Anne". Would you mind fixing or removing, if you don't feel comfortable fixing without a reliable source to back it up?

I've commented here before that I am employed by Fidelity Investments, so I have a financial conflict of interest. I won't make any changes to the article myself. Your time and assistance are appreciated! Thanks! FidelityMJ (talk) 17:44, 4 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Done Thank you, BacktoSchoolForever0700, for making the update. FidelityMJ (talk) 13:35, 6 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Kathleen Murphy of Fidelity, new photo needed edit

Hi, my name is Meghan and I've been working with the Wikipedia community to update the Kathleen Murphy article by making it more neutral and fully sourced. I want to disclose that I am employed by Fidelity Investments, so I have a financial conflict of interest. I have familiarized myself with the rules surrounding this circumstance and will always state my conflict of interest, never edit articles directly where I have a COI, and post only to Talk pages. I have good intentions and want to make fair, neutral edits to the article. You can view my original post on the Kathleen Murphy Talk page called "Improve the article's introduction".

I am hoping to update Kathleen Murphy's photo with the attached image. I can confirm that Fidelity Investments owns full copyrights to the image, and that Fidelity Investments is comfortable releasing the photo under a Creative Common 4.0 license.
