Alright, managed to find some pictures of his work on google image search.
From what I can gather a german museum put them on their site but hasn't seemed to have actually used them(no info). There are several v-museum tours available detailing 50 yrs of german history expressed via political cartoons about different events. They all appear to start past the time his drawings were done, outside of all the 50 yr periods.
The three cartoons are roughly titled:
Soccer Players, "Moritatensänger on the Drehorgel"(yes that's googles translation. Here's mine: Morit... playing a musical insturment), and Old Folks at the table
Very bleak and odd cartoons. The middle is probably the worst, scenes of death and pain in the background. I'm guessing this is a reference to a leader "playing" misery due to his errors. --DBEndy 06:12, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- Sänger translates as Singer by Google. The instrument looks like a Barrel organ, as in "organ grinder and monkey" ... and yes, that's what Drehorgel means, if you look at the link on the In other Languages, Deutsch side of the Barrel organ article, de:Drehorgel. Moritatensänger is mentioned in de:Moritat which seems to be some kind of ballad. I wonder if it's a death ballad, a eulogy or something like that. There are lots of death scenes in the background.
