Justin Blackmon is no longer playing so it should say “Justin blackmon is a former American football wide receiver” Bears247 (talk) 20:00, 29 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Bears247: Please provide a source that he has been released by the Jaguars. Also, nice username. Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:10, 29 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Blackmons contract has expired. If you look up his contract it says on sports that he signed a 4 year deal in 2013 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bears247 (talkcontribs) 20:54, 29 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Bears247: When players are suspended indefinitely, their contracts also toll indefinitely. This means if he ever gets reinstated, he will have two years left on his contract. The third year of his contract never actually began due to the suspension. Eagles 24/7 (C) 21:02, 29 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
Eagles247, I'm also in agreement that it's time to remove him as a part of the team, seeing as though there hasn't been any updates with his situation in years despite the Jaguars still having his rights/contract. We've done the same to other players, and the team hasn't listed him on their suspension list for a while now. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 21:25, 30 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Dissident93 He’s still listed on the Jaguars NFL.com roster. Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:09, 30 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Eagles247, I see, but that doesn't change the lack of updates regarding him ever playing again. And if you go by reliable sources, they pretty much all mention how he's a "former/ex" Jaguar, so at what point would you remove him? In 5 or 10 years once NFL.com forgets to keep his page up? ~ Dissident93 (talk) 22:24, 30 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
I think it's original research to assume the Jaguars will never make a transaction regarding Blackmon. One of the following will eventually happen, terminating his contract with the team: the Jaguars will release him from reserve/suspended, the NFL will reinstate him from suspension, Blackmon dies, the Jaguars franchise folds. When one of these items happens, it will be reported and we can update the page appropriately. Lack of updates means nothing has changed in his status. According to the NFL.com jaguars roster website. He was not on there. I also looked on ESPN and CBS Sports roster and didn’t see him. Bears247 (talk) 00:47, 27 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Bears247, I made a discussion over at WT:NFL regarding how we handle this, if you'd like to comment there. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 01:51, 27 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
