According to this source- http://www.mediatakeout.com/2008/26005-another_great_lost_actor_julius_carey__the_guy_who_played_sho_nuff_in_the_last_dragon__passed_away.html he passed away on August 19th. Little details are known at this time. I don't know how to add a source tag on the article so I'm leaving it here.
