1. Change (Rodeo)

We’d like to change “a” to “the first” in the following sentence, which appears in the “Career.” For clarity, please also consider adding a comma after “1979” and hyphens in “$1 million plus.”

In 1979 she founded Rodeo Realty, a real estate firm that sold only $1 million plus properties.

to this:

In 1979, she founded Rodeo Realty, the first real estate firm that sold only $1-million-plus properties.

Explanation: According to The Los Angeles Times (1996), Rodeo was “the first company to cater to buyers of million-dollar homes.”

2. Add (“Sales” Section)

We’d like to add a new section called “Sales,” which can simply consist of the existing paragraph that begins, “Rey has set records with many of her sales”:

Rey has set records with many of her sales. In 1978 she became the first agent to sell a home worth $4 million which was double the highest price paid for any property in the Platinum Triangle. The house was owned by Sonny & Cher. In the 1990s, Rey was the buyer and seller agent on a $30 million property which recognized as the highest selling property in Bel Air for that decade. Rey is credited with selling the highest priced residential property in the United States in 2010 which was listed for $72 million. She sold $300 million worth of property with Coldwell Banker Previews International in 2014, and more than $4 billion in her career through 2019.

Explanation: At present, the Wikipedia article is basically one section, “Career.” And the above paragraph lends itself nicely to “sales.”

3. Add (“Recognitions” Section)

We’d like to add a new section called “Recognitions,” which can simply consist of the article’s last paragraph:

Rey has been recognized as one of the 100 most influential Angelenos by Haute Living and one of the 35 most influential people in luxury real estate by Unique Homes. She has also been recognized as a top real estate agent for the entertainment industry by publications such as The Hollywood Reporter and Variety.

Explanation: At present, the Wikipedia article is basically one section, “Career.” And the above paragraph lends itself nicely to “recognitions.”

4. Add (Landmark Estates)

We’d like to change the following sentence, which appears in the intro, from this:

She is considered one of the most successful real estate agents in the United States and has represented clients for homes that include Pickfair, the Owlwood Estate, Le Belvedere and Greenacres.

to this:

Considered one of the most successful real estate agents in the United States, she specializes in landmark estates and has represented clients for homes that include Pickfair, the Owlwood Estate, Le Belvedere and Greenacres.

Explanation: According to SFGATE (2007), Rey’s “catalog of landmark sales” is “record-breaking.”

5. Add (Chartwell)

We’d like to add the following to the paragraph that begins, “Rey has set records with many of her sales”:

In 2019, she was part of the team that broke the record for the most expensive residential sale in California — the Chartwell Mansion, for $150 million.

Explanation: This sale — and Rey’s involvement in it — has drawn significant coverage, including CNBC, The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and Curbed.

6. Add ("Billionaire’s Broker")

We’d like to add the following sentence, at the end of the new “Recognitions” section:

Owing to her work with high-net-worth clients, Rey was dubbed ​”T​he Billionaire’s Broker” in 2012 by Janice Min​.

Explanation: This sobriquet seems relevant and interesting. Also, the source for this claim name checks clients such as Jennifer Lopez and Renée Zellweger.

7. Add (Most Expensive Home)

We’d like to add the following sentence to the intro:

She has twice sold the most expensive home in the United States (the Owlwood Estate in 1978 and La Belvedere in 2010).

Explanation: According to an article from 2011 in The Hollywood Reporter, “Drugs, Affairs and Secret Divorces: Inside the Scandalous History of the Holmby Hills Estate Once Owned by Tony Curtis, Cher and Sonny Bono”: “In 1978, [Owlwood] passed to [businessman Ghazi] Aita. The $4.2 million sale, according to Coldwell Banker’s Joyce Rey, who represented the seller, was at the time double the highest price paid for a house in California.”

An article from 2021 in Unique Homes, “The Legends of Ultimate Homes,” confirms these two facts: “In 1976, she [Joyce] sold the Sonny and Cher mansion for $1.2 million, a record at the time. Two years later, she sold it again for $4.2 million, which surpassed all other prices, setting a new high in the U.S. and worldwide.”

Those are sources for the 1978 sale. Here are sources for the 2010 sale:

According to an article from 2010 in The Los Angeles Times, “Home sale in Bel-Air a record for 2010”: “Los Angeles’ high-end residential market just got a jump-start: A mammoth French chateau on 2.2 acres in Bel-Air has been sold for the highest price of any U.S. residence so far this year. Although he wouldn’t release the sale price, seller Mohamed Hadid confirmed that it was in excess of the previous record of more than $46.5 million set this spring in Colorado, falling between $50 million and the asking price of $72 million.”

According to the same article, “Joyce Rey and Stacy Gottula, Coldwell Banker Beverly Hills, shared Hadid’s listing with Mauricio Umansky of Hilton & Hyland, Beverly Hills.”

The one final item has been added, although I modified the suggestion for clarity and grammar. This one statement about largest value sales is a cited and verifiable claim that adds new information to the article. It is debatable whether the other recommendations do the same or whether they are WP:PUFFERY. It can also be debated whether this article meets WP:NOTABILITY standards for a WP:BLP article at all. I won’t challenge that here, but interested editors may want to consider this issue here or in a discussion board. Go4thProsper (talk) 12:59, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
