This page is absurd; too many references in a too small space, I've never seen it.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.9.206.194 (talk) 19:13, 14 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

What constitutes a "controversy"? edit

"In 2007, Keats created a mobile ring tone based on the John Cage composition 4'33", a remix comprising precisely four minutes and 33 seconds of digital silence,[39] sparking controversy in the classical music community,[40][41] and the world of technology..." I'm sorry, but two blogs with a brief mention of the stunt hardly constitute a "controversy" in the classical music community, and one brief mention in Wired hardly constitutes a "controversy" in technology, nor should it: people who aren't primarily concerned with creating pointless concept art "pranks" already knew how to turn their phones to silent mode. The classical music community in particular is not really paying attention to people who seem to have just discovered 4'33" recently and decided it was the most brilliant thing classical music ever did, and generally, only newcomers misunderstand it as being about silence, rather than being about what an orchestra and performance sounds like when nothing is being played. Hint: it's not "silent", it's just quiet. Jonathan Keats is a dabbler, and isn't a person to take seriously, whether he's creating a silent ring tone, trying to get bacteria to figure out physics, or teaching bees how to dance. 2601:4:1003:A895:D1DB:E411:7F09:B4F1 (talk) 21:14, 23 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Then, of course, one could claim that you have misunderstood Keats mobile 4'33" to be just about turning ones phone to silent mode... 85.24.253.23 (talk) 07:23, 3 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
On the other hand, I have four fingers and one thumb. I also have a foot on my right leg. There is also a foot on my left leg, but I do not use it as a rule. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:EA01:1090:29BB:8311:9163:BB23 (talk) 00:11, 12 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
