Lead Confusing edit

I was reading the featured article summary on the front page when I read "P-40 tomahawk" then later in the next paragraph "P-40 Kittyhawks" Are these two distinct variants of the same plane, or are the names synonymous?--RandomLittleHelpertalk 03:26, 23 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

"Warhawk was the name the United States Army Air Corps adopted for all models, making it the official name in the United States for all P-40s. The British Commonwealth and Soviet air forces used the name Tomahawk for models equivalent to the P-40B and P-40C, and the name Kittyhawk for models equivalent to the P-40D and all later variants." Just as I suspected. Thank you.--RandomLittleHelpertalk 05:19, 23 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
