Reference links broken edit

Much of this article relies on reference numbers 2 and 3, but those links currently do not open a page about Joe Root. The sentence about him being incarcerated for violence was unclear and unverifiable, so I removed it. Many other sentences reply on those same references, so it would be good to either repair references back to the original source, or remove/change those reference numbers in the article itself.

Revised edit

I removed much of the hyperbole and extraneous material from the article. Joe Root was not a "naturalist" in the usual sense of the word, he was a guy who lived off the land. Nor did he work as an "entertainer", although he may have been entertaining (and maintaining good relations with the locals might have bought him a degree of tolerance, I suppose.) I have recategorized him as a "hermit", which seems like a better description. Someone from the Erie area might be able to expand on the modern image of Joe Root in the area. Joe Root (Pennsylvania hermit)Joe Root (hermit) – The article was rightly moved away from being disambiguated only by state in 2020, but I think the new title chosen was overly precise - we would only need to include the place if there were more than one notable hermit with the same name.
