Targeted by Armed Protestors
editI think it's important to include the following incident under "secretary of state". https://www.npr.org/sections/biden-transition-updates/2020/12/07/943820889/michigan-secretary-of-state-says-armed-protesters-descended-on-her-home-saturday
She was harassed at her home by armed conspiracy theorists claiming, despite evidence to the contrary, Trump won the election by a landslide. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.17.111.196 (talk) 19:35, 7 December 2020 (UTC)

COI template
editHello @JohnAdams1800. I would like to address the

template you've added to the page.
In your edit summary, you noted that the promotional tone of the article and its intricate detail (such as Benson being a marathon runner) suggest conflict of interest editing. Could you please highlight examples of what you think sounds promotional? Is there anything else in the article you think is a trivial detail besides Benson being a marathon runner?
Looking back through the edit history, the page seems to have been created by someone involved with Benson's campaign back in 2009. This conflict of interest seems to have been undisclosed but that was over 15 years ago and the creator is no longer active on Wikipedia. This is when her marathon runs were included in Family and Personal life.
Benson's running has been mentioned multiple times in articles published by some of Michigan's largest papers. The Detroit News and Michigan Live each have short articles focusing on her runs, for example. I think it's justified to include a sentence about this. Parent55 (talk) 02:48, 3 June 2024 (UTC)

- The COI template can be removed; I wasn't aware of the 2009 editor, and the article no longer sounds promotional after reading it today. It focuses on her work as a Secretary of State, which has received major coverage. I think the marathons are fine to include. She has received coverage for her role in the 2020 election, which is the bulk of the article's content. JohnAdams1800 (talk) 23:55, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
