Surface in the Tatabánya sports area edit

It is still a widely circulated info bit that the match was played basically on a concrete surface

Hámori Tibor: A Deckarm-sztori (ISBN: 9637542388) is a Hungarian documentary book issued in Budapest, 1981 covering the story of Deckarm's injury and the interviewed parties claim that the area was in fact covered with a modern surface called "Graboflex" which was practically the equivalent of "Taraflex" used in Germany. The book generally alleges that the information about the concrete surface was started to be spread by the German media as a retortion since the Hungarian side did not provide them sufficient information about Deckarm's condition

  • pp.15 Graboflex description: "a betonon három centiméteres rugalmas réteg van és azon még egy puha műanyag" (the concrete is covered with 3 cm of elastic material and on top of that a soft plastic layer)
  • pp.53 quotes former German under-secretary Robert Ruder (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Ruder) who also visited Tatabánya as a member of the TuS Hofweier handball team delegation: "aki itt nem tud vagy nem akar játszani az menjen el sakkozónak" (whoever is not able or does not want to play here, should rather play chess instead)
