Contested deletion edit

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because the artist has received multiple prestigious awards, has been included in exhibitions internationally (Hammer Museum, Transmission Gallery Glasgow ), and has been included in several notable newspapers (LA Times, New York Times, LA Weekly) as well as journals in her field (Artforum, Frieze, Art in America, Xtra) iThe article does need more work, espechially regarding her artwork, and educationBipandboppop (talk) 01:55, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

I agree, anyone who has one article in the LA Times dedicated to them cannot be an A7. However, the opening sentence of the article screams "WP:BLPCRIME" and I think the article might be still be valid for AfD and if the subject requested deletion per WP:BLPREQUESTDELETE I would strongly advise deleting it. In the meantime, I'll ping my cohort @MelanieN: to see if she can think about how to salvage this one. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:25, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
I removed the line you were referring to User:Ritchie333. I wasn't sure how to approach the subject. Moon's time between 2008-2010 is mentioned in several of the articles i looked at, most notably the 3 bellow. it is also the subject of much of her work. Should this be added back in and expanded upon?
Basically, when you write an article on a living person, you always have to err on the side of caution. Obviously, people get arrested and convicted, and it appears in broadsheet newspapers, and we'd look ridiculous having no mention of Rolf Harris and Garry Glitter's criminal records when they're widely known. But for lesser-known people, it's best to tone it down - in this case, Jennifer Moon is primarily notable as an artist, not a criminal. So mention that she took up art while in prison, that's probably okay, just don't put it up front. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:07, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
