there are two or three Jean de Beaugrand : the father was litographist, the son was a pupil of François Viète and a friend of Pierre de Fermat, he thought that Descartes had stolen his algebra from Viète and Thomas Harriot, therefore, Descartes was very angry against him and treated him geostaticien. We have to cut this page in two : Jean de Beaugrand (litography) and Jean de Beaugrand (mathematician). Further : it's not well proved that they were father and son.
