Maroger medium is quite controversial among artists. There are those who say the most modern research shows that the old masters typically used plain oil, and that Mr. Maroger was quite mistaken. There are conservators who say Maroger medium is not archival. One wonders if many of the edits may have been done by those with a financial interest. (Me? I use Maroger medium, but I am aware that it might not last for centuries.)
