There has been some general disagreement on the appearance section in this article so I thought that it would be better that we discuss it in an organized manner here rather than constantly undoing each other's edits. Thanks. Inter&anthro (talk) 14:37, 4 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
Here are my $0.02, from what I have observed, add only 2nd division and I-League stats. But 2nd division stats rarely have a reliable source. Coderzombie (talk)
Ever since I got onto wikipedia in 2010, the general rule for appearances is that if a player is in the 2nd Division then we would count their 2nd Division and State league stats.. Why? Because first off, the I-League 2nd Division is a short tournament with the recent one looking like an exception but still true. Some teams may only play 6 games in a span of a week in the 2nd Division in the past and be done with it. Then, those same clubs would go to their state league and play 10-20 games in 1-4 months. Secondly, the teams in the 2nd Division are not based on many criteria's. A team may play in their state league, not get chosen, do the same next season and then is in the 2nd Division. Whereas in the I-League you know if you are in the next edition automatically unless you are relegated. As for the I-League, I consider, as well as the officials who've I talked to in the past, it to be higher than the state leagues and thus why I don't add state league stats to players in the I-League but me and them do consider the 2nd Division to be the same as the state league and thus why we count them both.
The state league stats in the 2nd Division does make sense based on what Arsenaldude had said, but as I understand things, the state leagues are run by the state Govt. while all the other 3 competitions are run by the AIFF which includes the I-League, Fed Cup and the Durand Cup. The Brazialian league is one league where the local state league games have been counted for, but in the Brazilian player pages, stats from lower divisions and the top division are included. I feel we need consistency in this regard; if we are counting state league stats for 2nd Divison, it needs to be counted for the I-League too, but it just is better to do without it IMO, or include it in an "Other" tab in the Career section with references. The real AG (talk) 05:21, 5 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
Brazil actually has proper structure and qualifications unlike India. In Brazil you have the state leagues and then the national leagues. In India we have an unorganized 2nd Division with unorganized state leagues with no proper qualification for the 2nd Division. The I-League is the cream at the top, the 2nd Division technically should be counted as a cup tournament the way it has been organized in the past but since isn't a tournament but league it should be added but then state leagues should be added to as technically those two are the two main competitions for teams whereas the I-League is the highest priority in the order... get what I'm saying? --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 06:01, 5 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
Correct me if I am wrong but the general consensus is that Singh's I-League stats should be kept because they are reliable and come from a professional league, but the stats from the 2nd division and state leagues are unreliable and are from non-professional leagues. Also some discussion of where the 2nd I-League Tier stats should also be discussed as where it falls seems to be a bit blurry. Inter&anthro (talk) 13:23, 5 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
So what should we all agree on? I still think the state league stats can be included in the "Other" tab section if references can be found. Certainly, the 2014-15 I-League stats for Jackichand (and his team mate Seityasen) are not a problem as they come from "soccerway" who are just about as professional as it gets. We will be missing stats from four 2nd Division I-League seasons for Jackichand though, and that is a lot of games to account for. The link that I provided is not by any means a reliable one, but a very good indicator and the only one I could find after hours of searching through the internet and requesting information from Royal Wahingdoh. It does show pretty much all the goals he has scored in 2012, 2013, while I found the information on the number of goals he scored in 2011 from the 2011 I-League 2nd Division wikipedia page. The 2015 I-League 2nd Division stats was easier to find too, but the real problem is the number of games he has played as there really is seemingly no way to find that stat. So, I would love to know what you guys think should we decide on?The real AG (talk) 17:25, 5 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
Just be descriptive in the career section using sentences and words... simple. Wikipedia is not a stats sports website, it is an encyclopedia and sometimes (most times) stats can not be found and that is okay, as long as their is a clear section using words that shows what the reader needs. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 18:46, 5 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
@The real AG in my opinion we should use stats if they can be backed up (such as I-league & soccerway), as statistics aren't essential as ArsenalFan700 rightly points out, but they can still add some depth to the article. Anyway that's my two cents. Inter&anthro (talk) 23:01, 5 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
So, just to be clear, we will use the stats we know to be true like the ones in soccerway when available, and we will put what is known in the summary section of stats/clubs on the top right too? This can of course be added to when other stats are found. The real AG (talk) 02:53, 6 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
