The result of the move request was: moved to Hong Xiguan. Consensus that the pinyin spelling is both the WP:COMMONNAME and preferable under WP:NCZH. (closed by non-admin page mover) ModernDayTrilobite (talk • contribs) 15:17, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
Hung Hei-gun → ? – I propose the article be moved to either "Hung Hei-kwun" (the Cantonese spelling) or "Hong Xiguan" (the modern Mandarin spelling in pinyin). The current title, "Hung Hei-gun", uses the outdated Wade-Giles system (WP:NCZH). Although this figure is from Hong Kong, it seems like the Cantonese spelling is the least common of the three, so I vote for Hong Xiguan. SilverStar54 (talk) 16:19, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- Move to Hong Xiguan per WP:NCZH. The subject doesn't seem to be from Hong Kong – from the article, it seems he was born in what is now Guangzhou and joined a monastery in Fujian. Hong Kong wasn't a major city during his lifetime. —Mx. Granger (talk · contribs) 14:29, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
- Ah, got it. A line in one of the sources I looked at seemed to suggest that he may have not been a historical figure at all, and instead a later invention. [1] I think I misinterpreted it, though. Either way, the Mandarin spelling predominates. SilverStar54 (talk) 07:01, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
- Move to Hong Xiguan as the most commonly used name. It's the only one to pop up in ngrams or google trends, and has more google books/google scholar results than either of the other two names. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 22:53, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
