Merger Proposal into Astor House Hotel (Shanghai)

edit

A separate article for a part of a hotel's history is in my opinion unnecessary and redundant. It is also largely copy-pasted from the main hotel article. I am also proposing a merge of a similar article.

I quite agree. I was going to start a copy edit here and gave up! The refs are incredibly detailed and extremely difficult to follow. This is supposed to be a history of the hotel in a fairly brief period but some of the footnotes are lengthy biographies of the characters involved, which strikes me as inappropriate. There is a great deal of repetition of the general article on the hotel; I can see no reason at all for such a detailed history of the building in this brief period when it is already written in detail elsewhere. Merging the articles would be an ideal time to try and make the refs useable!(I suspect that some of the refs in this article refer to sources used in the main article, but there is no sign here of what those sources are. This has possibly been the most confusing and frustrating hour I've spent on WP!!Misha An interested observer of this and that 21:08, 16 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
