Pre-GAN feedback
editAs per a request by @Hawkeye7, here are some comments about this bio. I'm evaluating it against the GA Criteria.
Source review
- I went ahead and went through all our sources (except the Russian ones), since there are so few.
- You need to go through your refs and complete them. For example, many don't have access dates. You should also update the ones that exist.
- AGF re: the two sources in Russian, since I don't speak or read the language.
- I think that you could do a better job mining your sources. For example, ref5 goes into more detail about how Windsor and Alexandrovskaya began their partnership, which could be paraphrased and included. I suspect that you could expand this bio and make it more comprehensive by including more details from many of your sources, so I won't go through all of them at this review. Again, I don't think doing these things would impact a possible GAN, but I think that it'd improve it, which is the point, anyway.
- Just a suggestion: I recommend going through your sources to ensure that they've been archived through the Wayback Machine. You don't have to put the archived URL in your references, but if you don't, I also suggest that you put this template at the top of on the talk page when you're done. There's no requirement to do so, but for figure skating articles, it's beginning to be the standard.
As of December 2022, all sources in this article have been archived using the Wayback Machine. |
Image review
- I like the three images you include. Are there by any chance any more?
Early career
- Both your sources state that Windsor and his mom found the Blacktown rink by accident when he was 8. That's such a charming story; you should include it, perhaps like this: "Windsor began skating in 2005, at the age of 8, when he and his mother discovered an ice rink in Blacktown by accident."
- Ref1: URL goes to a newspaper service.
- Ref6: A little bit of WP:Overcite here; since refs4&5 state Windsor's parents' heritage, you could just as well remove ref6, since it's an interview anyway and if you were to include it, you'd have to find the location where the info is stated.
- Another comment in the "just a suggestion" arena: Personally, I don't care for too-small paragraphs and too-small sections. I think that you could combine the Early career and the Teaming up with Alexandrovskaya subsection and combine it into one paragraph. This seems to be an issue with many of your sections and sub-sections throughout.
2016–2017 season
- "Alexandrovskaya/Windsor": The Wikiproject Figure Skating Manual of style states that pair and dance teams should be referred to separately, a la " Alexandrovskaya and Windsor." I'd like you to go through and add that "and" throughout this bio, please. It may seem picky and another non-skating editor might not pick up on it, but it's important to make the distinction.
- Some sources talk about what a surprise and revelation the team was, coming from Australia and doing so well after so short a time after they became a team, which I think is important enough to include because it gets into reaction and context.
- You need sources supporting the statements in the last sentence in paragraph 2 and your (too-short) final paragraph in this section.
- Other than the two picky comments above, the descriptions in the season sections are well written, which can often be a problem with skaters' bios. Make sure you're mining your sources adequately, though.
2017–2018 season
- Ref 15: Goes to the source's subscription page. You may need to find it at Wayback.
- The last two sentences in paragraph 2 need source(s).
- Ref19 is broken.
2018–2019 season
- Last sentence in 1st paragraph needs a source.
2019–2020 season
- Last sentence in section needs a source. So so sad. Ref23, although it never uses the word "suicide" until the CSA at the end, I think that you could mention how Alexandrovskaya died and Windsor's reaction to it. The source also states that she was diagnosed with epilepsy, and even though this bio isn't about her, it should be mentioned here because Windsor was her partner.
2020–2021 & 2021–2022 seasons
- Why did Windsor not compete in 2020-2021? COVID?
- Last sentence has no source.
Programs
- All the refs in the table have error messages when you hover over the links. I wonder if it's because you use the older referencing technique; at any rate, they need to be fixed.
Pairs with Chernyshova
- Chart lacks source(s).
Men's singles
- Ref29 is broken.
That's all I have for now. I think that if you did all the above, this could pass to GA. You don't have to follow my suggestions; I leave that up to you, since I don't think that if you didn't, it wouldn't pass. Nice work on a much-needed topic. Best to you moving forward.
