WP:NPOV and WP:UNDUE

edit

Note to Philafrenzy: This article is already unfortunately a magnet for political soapboxing and editorializing, both from the Palestinian viewpoint and the Israeli viewpoint. The material I deleted was extremely biased and POV on one side of the conflict. If it remains, I (or other editors) will need to maintain WP:NPOV and WP:UNDUE by adding back in all of the negative details about how her family was traumatized by violence (which right now is merely briefly implied). It's not that I personally have a POV on this, it's that in my opinion we should not let this article devolve into a political arena (and eventually have to come under WP:ARBPIA sanctions). Since you created the article, I will let you decide what should happen.... As is, even the wording of the "Family" material is inflammatory and one-sided. Anyway, let me know, thanks. We can't censor an article just because it might attract a lot of controversy. The material certainly seems relevant given what she received the award for and as I said in the edit summary we do routinely cover briefly other close family members. If it ultimately needs to be locked down then we will need to live with that. I don't see any NPOV problems with it nor is the wording inflammatory in my view. The Times of Israel (which is a RS) say her husband "provided chemicals used for bombs that killed six Israelis in 1980". Do you dispute the accuracy of that statement? (Note: I created the article but I wasn't the one who put this material in.) Philafrenzy (talk) 10:26, 9 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
I don't dispute the chemicals part, but the undue emphasis and the lack of balance makes it NPOV as is. I'll figure out a way to make the article as a whole neutral and balanced without removing any relevant cited information. Thanks for discussing. (Yes I know you didn't add the new stuff.) By the way thank you for creating the article! Softlavender (talk) 10:59, 9 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
Well, an anti-violence campaigner having a husband who did 10 years in jail for helping to build bombs that killed people is certainly something that should be in the article. By all means expand the rest, I don't doubt her commitment to anti-violence. Philafrenzy (talk) 12:03, 9 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
