film influence

edit

I wonder if Gurgi inspired Gollum (voice, movements, way of speaking/acting) in the Lord of the rings movies, is it just me or does someone else see similarities? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.228.131.29 (talk) 21:02, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Regarding voice, the article mentions "speech distortions" similar to those of Donald Duck as well as Gollum/Smeagol. If that's reliable it suggests Donald Duck as some influence on both. --P64 (talk) 17:29, 14 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
The book by Serkis may be informative (Gollum: How We Made Movie Magic). It may not. I paged through a used-book copy before knowing of this issue. --P64 (talk) 16:35, 7 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Origins

edit
"The name Gurgi may be a variation on Gruagach (see Púca).[citation needed]"

Creating the new section /*Origins*/ I have deleted that unsourced speculation(?) but retained the link that was paired with it: see Gwrgi (disambiguation). --P64 (talk) 17:29, 14 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hasty merge

edit

The history shows an unusual amount of material, including references, "lost" in the "merge" with The Chronicles of Prydain. this page, version 2013-09-01

The history of The Black Cauldron (film) show no activity at that time film article, Feb/Mar 2014, when this and other pages that partly concern Disney's Prydain (film, and also amusement park in this case) as well as Lloyd Alexander's print version. That is, when all pages in Category:The Chronicles of Prydain characters and Category:Disney's The Black Cauldron characters were replaced by WP:REDIRECTs.

Contemporary history of the main article series article, early 2014 reports merges from numerous characters pages. It reports no merges from other Prydain pages on fictional beings/places/objects but it may be that User:TTN (I don't recall whether I asked or commented) converted all of those pages to redirects at the same time. All are redirects now, or nearly all: list of redirects to The Chronicles of Prydain.

A glance at the Prydain navigation box {{The Chronicles of Prydain}} and its history shows that TTN converted all Prydain pages except the works articles (some without merge of any material, i presume), and probably worked from that page.
(Prydain concerns "the Welsh name for Great Britain".) --P64 (talk) 17:37, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
By works articles (or pages) I mean those entries in the Novels and Related sections of template {{The Chronicles of Prydain}}, in contrast to the fictional elements articles/pages in the Characters (Gurgi and others]]), Animals, and Universe sections. That 5-section navigation box has been restored recently by User:Hullaballoo Wolfowitz--along with some of its fictional elements targets (not this one, yet).
