Talk:Gunther Island Site 67

Address restricted

edit

A lot of NRHP listings have their address restricted for not plausible reason. But, if this is still an active archaeological dig that hikers could easily disturb, the coordinates should be removed. Anyone local know what the current state is? RevelationDirect (talk) 03:04, 13 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

proposal to merge

edit

There are three pages on Indian Island, Humboldt Bay. I propose merging Gunther Island Site 67 and Gunther_Pattern into the Indian Island, Humboldt Bay. Gunther pattern refers to the type of materials found in Gunther Island Site 67 which is itself located on Indian owned and totally restricted access Indian Island in the Bay. I request full discussion of this merge to be held on the Indian Island, Humboldt Bay page to reduce confusion. After the merge, I plan to add/revise that page to include more sources and information. A photo of the memorial has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Humboldt County, California. Neither this memorial nor the one at the Samoa end of the Samoa Bridge is physically located on the Island, which is strictly off limits to the public except when invited for ceremonies including the World Renewal Dance each February. Merged today. Ellin Beltz (talk) 15:55, 23 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
I removed the "Image requested|in=California" tag because the page does have a photograph of the Island which is restricted access to the public. This is the closest you are going to get to be able to take a photo of the island without a boat and/or breaking the law. Ellin Beltz (talk) 20:28, 11 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
