I find one of the best trees to spot them (and their nest holes) in are Black/Manchester Poplars (Poplus nigra betulifolia)

Distribution edit

Is this an Irish webpage, or why is the distribution only given for Ireland and nothing else? --47.64.209.86 (talk) 14:35, 24 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dendrocopos or Dendrocopus? edit

This article seems to use the two different spellings of the genus randomly - if you follow the link to the genus Dendrocopus the article is named Dendrocopos but that article also still contains both variants - without any explanation as to which is currently correct or why any change might have taken place. Looking at bird guides of different vintage it seems that the U spelling is older than the O spelling but I don't have any way of confirming the currently correct version, let alone the reason for it. Can someone far more knowledgeable than me sort it out, please! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Freewheeling frankie (talkcontribs) 11:01, 17 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
