Mr O’Donoghue reported live from the scene of the assassination attempt on Trump.

Thanks to his eyewitness interviews, I believe he was the first UK reporter to report a number of important details.

For instance that the shots had been fired from a rifle by a shooter on a nearby rooftop; the shooter had been visible to witnesses for four minutes before the attack; and that the shooter was subsequently killed by the secret service.

Videos of Mr O’Donoghue’s interviews have gone viral on X, and also are reported on here:

Significance of the photocopier reference

edit

The article says "Given work experience at the BBC, his first job was working for a braille production department, where he was asked to operate the photocopier." What is the significance of the reference to operating the photocopier? Is it because it's considered to be an inappropriate task to give to someone with a visual impairment or because he rose to the challenge in spite of it? Or, is it the braille production department's idea of a fool's errand or prank to play on the new boy, similar to sending someone is search of skyhooks or glass nails, given that photocopiers are not particularly effective at reproducing braille. Left unexplained the final clause seems quite pointless. 83.104.249.240 (talk) 16:55, 5 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Date and place of birth

edit

O'Donoghue's date and place of birth are both unsourced, so I have added 'cn' tags. FreeBMD has no Gary O'Donoghues registered in Norfolk in 1969, only one registered in Paddington, mother's name Ledwith, in the 2nd quarter. So date and/or place of birth may be wrong.
