AIGLX
editWhy the reference to AIGLX? AIGLX is not part of or used in GLX, rather it is a way to get an enchanced X server to do some stuff with OpenGL. Maybe a reference to one of the GLUT projects or GLUT itself would be better.
Initialism
editIs GLX really an initialism? Do you pronounce it glux? I say the letters... :-/
I never heard about anyone pronoucing it GLUX -- G-L-X is the way I pronouce it.
MESA being slow.
editMESA isn't slow at all -- yes it is slow compared to hardware accelerated opengl, but mesa itself is not slow. The way the wording is now, seems to me like the author means that MESA is slow, so I'm going to change it. If you think otherwise, please state why.
Compared to what?
editThe main article has a sentence that never appears to be completed:
from the client and either passes them on to
My question is: In those cases where there is hardware acceleration support, what would these commands be passed onto?
What is the license
editNothing about the license is stated here, is it free software? bkil (talk) 15:53, 5 August 2008 (UTC) So it's not: [[1]] bkil (talk) 16:19, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- Could we state that the license is version 2.0 of the Free B license? There has been some agreement from the strictly free distro's gNewSense forum about that GLX is free software(none disagreed, and said 'no you are wrong'), as of the 2.0 license publication. Logictheo (talk) 22:29, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
- GLX isn't software per se, it's an API and a protocol. Glartin (talk) 16:54, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
glxgears
editCould we make a separate glxgears article, with perhaps the benchmarking points, software vs. hardware/direct rendering, versions?, a picture, usage etc. Hullo exclamation mark (talk) 03:58, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
History
editThe history part should tell dates when project is started. The links to other projects and mentioning what got done for what, is not enough without dates. Golftheman (talk) 20:13, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Dead Links
editThe project links to SGI are all dead. So is the "contact us" link at oss.sgi.com.
Someone has vandalized the History section
editThe last edit is the culprit. --68.185.193.16 (talk) 02:59, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
External links modified
editHello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on GLX. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive http://web.archive.org/web/20160107123939/http://www.sgi.com/products/software/opensource/glx/ to http://www.sgi.com/products/software/opensource/glx/
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}
).
