Move to Fußball-Oberliga edit

To bring the article name in line with the names of most other German league articles, like Fußball-Bundesliga, I think it should be moved to Fußball-Oberliga. Any objections? I would just move it myself but because the name already exists as a redirect that isn't possible. Calistemon (talk) 12:33, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Could you elaborate as to what you mean? Calistemon (talk) 10:55, 20 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Errors in timeline graphics edit

  • The Amateurliga Hessen, Amateurliga Bayern and Amateurliga Berlin until 1978 never had Oberliga status. Before 1963 the Oberliga was the level above. Between 1963 and 1978, there was no Oberliga in Germany. (Except for Amatuer-Oberliga Nord since 1974.)
  • The Niedersachsenliga, Mittelrheinliga and Niederrheinliga are officially labelled "Oberliga ..." now.
  • No Denglish/Germish please "Bayernliga NORD", "Bayernliga SÜD".
  • It's "Bremen-Liga".
  • There never was an "Oberliga Berlin" before 1963. That's an urban myth. The division was officially labelled "Berliner Stadtliga". Inoffically it was "Vertragsliga Berlin".
  • Between 1974 and 1994, the official name was "Amateur-Oberliga", not just "Oberliga" to distinguish from the 1945-63 Oberliga, which were no full amateur leagues.

So whoever maintains this graphics may probably improve his work, otherwise I'm afraid I must delete it in the near future because of that many errors... --NeunZehnHundertFünf (talk) 21:01, 29 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi there,
first of all, thanks for the corrections. However - do you have sources for your statements? Also, please do not delete erroneous graphics, but instead try to correct them, if you can. If you do not have the possibility to do that, please provide sources for your statements and someone else will take care of it. --Madcynic (talk) 08:29, 31 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
As to the necessary easy corrections:
  •   Amateurliga Hessen, Amateurliga Bayern and Amateurliga Berlin until 1978 removed. Were marked in orange already to differenciate between pre- and post-1978 status and labeled Amateurligas to differenciate.
  •   Niedersachsenliga, Mittelrheinliga and Niederrheinliga: Names updated.
  •   "Bayernliga NORD", "Bayernliga SÜD": amended.
  •   Oberliga Berlin: Not done. Kicker Almanach referes to the league as Oberliga Berlin, with "Stadtliga" in brackets, indicating that both names are applicable. Like Madcynic says, please provide a references if the name Oberliga was never used and the Kicker Almanach is wrong.
  •   Amateur-Oberliga: Not done, the limited size of the graph makes multiple names for leagues to crowded, historical varyiations of league names can be found in articles which are linked in the template.
All easy changes, but better discussed on the template talk page then the article one where the changes can't be made! Calistemon (talk) 22:37, 31 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

References for "Stadtliga"? I.e:

  • 1. Hardy Grüne, "Vom Kronprinzen zur Bundesliga". All Berlin tables are labelled "Stadtliga".
  • 2. "Der Spiegel", No. 25/1951: Pecco Bauwens, Präsident des Deutschen Fußballbundes, nahm den Rechenschieber als Schwert und schlug die Kandidatenmasse der vier westdeutschen Oberligen und der Stadtliga Berlin in zwei Haufen. http://www.spiegel.de/spiegel/print/d-29194173.html

The Berlin division had Oberliga status, but its official name never was Oberliga.--NeunZehnHundertFünf (talk) 21:21, 1 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Requested move edit

The result of the move request was: page moved. See Talk:Bundesliga#Requested move; in this case, disambiguation was needed from the ice-hockey league. Further disambiguation is necessary only from WP articles, not from every football Oberliga in existence; the two pre-1990 DDR league articles can be disambiguated with hatnotes. Fußball-OberligaOberliga (football) – per WP:UE. Seems to have been there at one point. The word 'fußball' isn't English and in any event is redundant; in English it seem to be referred to to it as German Upper League or simply 'Oberliga'.  Ohconfucius ping / poke 17:06, 1 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment shouldn't that be Oberliga (association football) ? Since it's not rugby football or gridiron football. -- 65.94.76.126 (talk) 18:29, 1 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose There is far to many Oberligas in German sports, not just in football, a form of disambiguation is definately needed. Oberliga (football) is still not clear enough as their is also Oberligas in another code of football in Germany (American Football). It might be wise to await the outcome of the requested move discusion at Talk:Fußball-Bundesliga to come up with a new naming convention of German association football leagues.
