Reduced Article to Stub edit

This article was in a hopeless condition, barely any citations, wrong and/or unsubstantiated information in violation of BLP. I don't have the expertise on this subject to fix these things and rather than PROD the article, I have reduced it to a stub in the hope that somebody will eventually write a proper article. I admire your optimism. Gurch (talk) 22:39, 15 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Why has this article been reduced to stub? edit

The original version of this article contained much factual information about Fouladvand, e.g. reference to journalist Alicia Colon, who wrote an article about him, as well as a reference to several events that Fouladvand orchestrated and which were televised. Why would you remove all that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.230.228.79 (talk) 18:01, 2 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

I second that - the original article contained much factual stuff that anyone who followed Fouladvand back in the day could easily verify. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:1715:4E33:BA60:D129:159:8C98:7020 (talk) 14:23, 17 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Frood or Foroud? edit

I would like comments on which transliteration is better, I have seen examples of both in reliable publications, Frood here and Foroud here. Mako001 (C)  (T) (The Alternate Mako) 12:56, 29 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Common name? edit

I ask because of this sentence: "Fouladvand did all of his artistic work under his birth name, Fathollah Manouchehri." If so, is Frood Fouladvand really the WP:COMMONNAME? Thanks, —PaleoNeonate – 01:53, 30 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

I guess it depends if he was better known as an actor or an activist? Mako001 (C)  (T) (The Alternate Mako) 08:56, 30 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Mostly he's know as Frood Fouladvand, and not as his actual birth name. He's also known as a political activist more than an actor or screenwriter. ChipsBaMast (talk) 08:05, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Political views edit

It seems that this chap had some very interesting (and sometimes seemingly contradictory) political views. All the following is based on his "Constitution for Iran" he wrote (available at the API website, iransara.info).

  • He blamed the United States and Europe for the Iranian Revolution. Why? He doesn't make his logic on that too clear, which is unfortunate. * He advocated a for a robust social security system, which he supported by using... old poetry?
  • Despite his rather clear dislike of Western culture, and his asserted superiority of Iranian (Persian) culture, his proposal for Iran involved a very Western form of democracy, which uses a "House of Representatives", a "Prime Minister", "Members of Parliament" and "division of powers" (Now, where would that have come from?).

It had some serious flaws though, for example:

  • Despite calling for broad rights and freedoms, his approach to suffrage was a good deal narrower, only "educated" "intelligent" people were to be allowed to vote.
  • Political parties working for "foreign interests" could be banned.

Couldn't abuse either of those in any way (chuckles evilly).

I dunno if this little diatribe (or whatever it is) helps anyone to see how this chap worked a bit, but for a good insight, do check out iransara.info, it's not a huge site (best part is that it was written before ads were a thing). Take what you find there with a punch of salt though, and remember who wrote it all, as it is extremely partisan, and some of it is (unfortunately) pretty blatantly untrue. Oh, and it borders on open Islamophobia at times.

Hopefully, this insight helps with adding further content. Mako001 (C)  (T)  🇺🇦 16:10, 16 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

I think that you are misunderstanding quite a bit about his ideology. I want to be clear that I am not endorsing these views, merely explaining them as your framing is quite wrong in an Iranian context. I also find it interesting that you seem to admit you now have a personal dislike of this man with your choice of the word "diatribe".
Frood Fouladvand spread his message primarily through television, so your comment about not understanding his logic is understandable as it unfortunately isn't in writing. If you spoke Persian, you might be able to find videos that contextualise it. The comment about old poetry seems to be an unnecessary ad hominem.
His wish for a house of representatives, parliament etc... all that has to do with the Persian Constitutionalist Revolution. Everything that you have described and believe to be contradictory is derived from that "Mashruteh" movement.
I also want to know what your basis for calling iransara.info "blatantly untrue" is. Most of the statements about Frood Fouladvand's exploits have photographic evidence behind it. I think that your insights haven't helped at all, all they've done is provide an undereducated surface-level analysis. Shreksdonkeyfromchina (talk) 19:47, 17 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Source added for ethnic roots edit

I have added a source for his ethnic roots. It is written in Persian. Shreksdonkeyfromchina (talk) 20:00, 17 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
