editI couldn't find any reference for "He was also an editor of the Toronto Express newspaper." --Big_Iron 11:40, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
Any relation?
editWas Francis Hincks any relation of Edward Hincks? (Both from Cork, both sons of a presbyterian minister) or Thomas Dix Hincks? Peter Clarke (talk) 12:11, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
- It seems he was related - per internet. Peter Clarke (talk) 18:20, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Sir Francis Hinks and Sir Francis Hicks? Were these two different people?
editI just wanted to clarify something. In the book "Passport to the Heart: Reflections on Canada Caribbean Relations" By Dr. Trevor A. Carmichael it talks about the flirtations of the West Indies joining into Canada Confederation.
- The Bahamas on page 6.
- Barbados on pages 5-6.
- Belize on page 10.
- Bermuda on page 10.
- Jamaica on pages 3-5.
- The Leeward Islands on page 6.
- The West Indies Federation on pages 9-15
etc.
In the book it expressly says "Sir Francis Hicks" in terms of the letter from the Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS) however I noticed at one point someone changed Hicks to Hinks. Now I left it thinking maybe it was a typo on my part. But I decided to actually try Googling Hicks and I see there was a Hicks. By chance was this Sir Francis Hicks person the same person as Sir Francis Hinks???
