editI have added a few basic references to the claims made in this article. The article currently focuses heavily on Rosselli's "cartographic" activities. I will try to flesh out some of his other printmaking and painting activities. The claim that Rosselli was a cartographer is a controversial one. It is certain that he engraved maps, but all evidence indicates that these were based closely on existing manuscript precedent. He seems to have been trained as an engraver and painter and not as a mathematician or humanist scholar (the sorts of training expected of someone who produced new maps, rather than copied and translated existing ones, in the Renaissance).
The Bay of Naples
editHe painted the view of Naples in 1442 and was born in 1445? Something is wrong. [1] --Enrique Cordero (talk) 20:34, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
- I think it's your assumption that paintings must depict recent events. 21:38, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
