Hello. I wanted to discuss the notability tag recently added by User:Bastun on this article. I'm having trouble understanding his standards of notability and I think starting this conversation here is important (since my current goal is to add emerging notable artists to Wikipedia).

This is an article about a consolidated artist (that, by the way, already has a reviewed article on the French Wikipedia). There are multiple sources referencing his work and his music (may it be on Spotify, Youtube, or other streaming services) has millions of listeners.

What are the standards here and what in this artist's biography goes against the Wiki policies? Did I get something wrong?

Hi, RGMNotTrue. If you click on the WP:NMUSIC link in the template I added, you will see the criteria for notability for musicians. There is no evidence in the article that any of these are met. The only criterion that might have applied would be the first - Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician - and I'm not really seeing that. The gonzai.com article is an in-depth interview, but looking at the other references (which are all bare URLs, by the way, most missing publication dates - but that's an aside), the 'lesinrocks' article is only seven sentences long, in total, for example. Most of the articles also repeat the factoid about "Music 2000 on the Playstation", leading me to believe that Any reprints of press releases, other publications where the musician or ensemble talks about themselves applies.

If you can add something backing up any of the other criteria, such as chart position, gold record, major award, etc., I'd be happy to remove the template. Bastun^{Ėġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ!} 09:54, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
