I I I Wanna Go

The source cited for "I I I Wanna Go" listed under confirmed tracks doesn't even mention the song in the article. This should be removed until a source has listed the song. Jpagan09 (talk) 20:31, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

"Britney’s managing team also played a second song for Ryan, “I I I Wanna Go” another powerhouse single from the new album." Yes it does. nding·start 00:23, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Release Date

The sale sheet released by Jive said March 15, but Britney has yet to confirm this and Amazon is now showing March 22nd as the release. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Davewithak (talkcontribs) 00:10, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Seal It With a Kiss and Till The World Ends

"Blogs" in this context refers to personal and group blogs. Some news outlets host interactive columns they call blogs, and these may be acceptable as sources so long as the writers are professional journalists or are professionals in the field on which they write and the blog is subject to the news outlet's full editorial control. Posts left by readers may never be used as sources.

Oh No They Didn't can be considered as a reliable source, because the blog re-posted what was originally on Just Jared. Links to JJ are blocked and considered by Wikipedia as spam. Also, ONTD was cited on O! Magazine, Playboy, and several magazines/websites.

Also, Dr. Luke twitter confirmed "Seal It With a Kiss" as a song of Britney's new album, but twitter is claimed as an unreliable source. However, Britney's twitter and Adam Leber's twitter are reliable, 'cause both are verified accounts. Dr. Luke's account on twitter is also a verified account, so it should be reliable too. If it isn't, then Britney's twitter isn't either.

Seal It With A Kiss confirmed by Dr. Luke. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.29.61.178 (talk) 08:36, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

Quit adding that song. WP:TWITTER --ĈÞЯİŒ 1ооо 14:12, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

Yes, it's not clear from his tweet. It says just "seal with a kiss," and nothing else about it being a song. Novice7 | Talk 14:13, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
But that is why we use both status, 'case in one he says: "one of these could be a new brit song", and the other says the title "seal it with a kiss", which pretty much confirms a new song of the album.

Exceptions are made for official links when the subject of the article has no other internet presence. As a reliable source: Sometimes. A specific tweet may be useful as a self-published, primary source.

I I I wanna go

Where's the source that it's confirmed as another single? The article says nothing about it, it should be removed.

Someone messed up the sources. It's correct now. Xwomanizerx (talk) 04:40, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Inside Out

Ok, I'm just confused as a lot of people here. Although MTV says that Inside Out is the next single of Femme Fatale, this was never confirmed by Britney or her representatives... I I I Wanna Go has also been confirmed as a single by Ryan Seacreast. Again, Britney's team didn't confirm this info. So PLEASE don't add any info saying that one of these two are the second single of the album. Just wait Britney herself or Adam Leber to confirm it. Sauloviegas (talk) 00:09, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

MTV is assuming it's the next single based on tweets. Britney's managers played I I I Wanna Go for Ryan, who confirmed it was a future single. Two completely different situations. Xwomanizerx (talk) 01:15, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Actually, no, they are not two completely different sitauations. Both songs have been confirmed as singles. for inside out, its confirmation comes from the people themselves, not a second-hand source. that is what twitter is used for.Gaga690(talk) 8:20, 19 February (EST)
Unless a tweet comes from Britney herself or Adam saying "Inside Out is the second single from the album", it's not confirmed. For all we know, it's just an album track. Xwomanizerx (talk) 01:41, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

There is a page that can be added onto here: "Till The World Ends". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.25.6.103 (talk) 12:17, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

No. The article clearly fails notability. Sorry, but it cannot be created for now. — Novice7 (talk) 12:24, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
You can download it from iTunes as we speak. Therefore, it's definitely the next single. What more do you want, love? For Britney to knock on your door and explain its 'notability' in at least 10,000 words? (Paul237 (talk) 17:40, 4 March 2011 (UTC))
A single release does not make a song meet notability standards on Wikipedia (WP:NSONGS). Yves (talk) 17:44, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
There's a page for Hold It Against Me, so it's logical that one will follow for Till The World Ends. The problem is that if no one allows said page to be opened, no one can add anything to it and make it notable. (Paul237 (talk) 18:00, 4 March 2011 (UTC))
Just because a song was released as a single, doesn't mean that it should have an article. "Hold It Against Me" was created because it has mass coverage from many reputed sources. Till the World Ends is now created, as it also has some good sources. Without any source, or any charts they cannot be created. — Novice7 (talk) 03:54, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
It's a moot point now anyway, as a "Till The World Ends" page has been opened. :) (Paul237 (talk) 08:50, 5 March 2011 (UTC))
I know it's opened. Just in case, that's all :D — Novice7 (talk) 08:59, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

Info about the whole album being leaked

Hi just wanted to tell you that the whole album has leaked right know i cant find sources but go to youtube and search — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brnrdfr (talkcontribs) 05:36, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

And not to mention that Britney's manager placed the whole new album officially on his myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/larryrudolph Recently, Larry added 4 songs from deluxe version of her album.

Leaked Songs

There should be something on Britney, Dr. Luke, and will.i.am leaking snippets of six tracks on www.soundcloud.com in the promotion. Also, the entire album has made its way to the internet, and I'm pretty sure they were not authorized by Britney or her team. <YouTube video link removed per WP:YT> "Gasoline" <YouTube video link removed per WP:YT> "Inside out" <YouTube video link removed per WP:YT> "criminal" <YouTube video link removed per WP:YT> "Seal It With a Kiss" <YouTube video link removed per WP:YT> "(Drop Dead) Beautiful" <YouTube video link removed per WP:YT> "How I Roll" <YouTube video link removed per WP:YT> "Trouble for Me" <YouTube video link removed per WP:YT> "Big Fat Bass" <YouTube video link removed per WP:YT> "Trip to Your Heart" 12:24 March 14, 2011. Genre

Since the infobox should reflect its article, the genre(s) that are included would be better off included based on several sources that have something consistent with each other; if most critics dub it "electro-pop" or "pop", for example, those should be included. But not an Allmusic reference that has the label "Pop/rock" for categorical purposes to serve its own database. Since no reference mention "rock", in prose atleast, critic or otherwise, it should probably be left out. I've encountered a similar issue with genre change, and have gotten helpful advice on such a matter at the WP:Albums talk page. Dan56 (talk) 22:48, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

Allmusic tags genres like cd stores do, putting both pop and rock together, but the point is that allmusic has a reference for Club-dance cant anyone put that if its alright? 24.139.117.90 (talk) 03:29, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

number of #1 albums

Please Include this: Due to Femme Fatale reaching No. 1 in the USA, Britney Spears is the first female artist under 30 to have 6 No.-1-albums. Doing so, she's breaking Mariah Carey's record as the youngest female artist to have this amount of No.-1-albums when E=MC² became her 6th album to reach No. 1 at the age of 38. source--79.216.215.183 (talk) 20:13, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

That seems like a really random record, and I would be reluctant to add this information. It seems like the age of thirty was an arbitrary fact to include to make this seem notable. You could also say Mariah Carey is the youngest female artist over the age of 30 to have this record, too, then. It just seems really random and not really an achievement. Youngest artist to have six number-one albums on the Billboard 200 is an achievement, and youngest female artist to have six number-one albums is one as well, but youngest female artist under the age of thirty to have six number-one albums on the Billboard 200? It's like they're trying to look for a record. Yves (talk) 20:20, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
Well it does mention her as the youngest female artist overall to have this many number ones so a mention of it could go in somewhere maybe...ont he Billboard 200 page might be better. --Shadow (talk) 04:27, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

The Platinum certification is already out in the open, as there are lots of news websites that have already published the news. Though RIAA's website is not functional as of the moment for us to be able to confirm this, it seems like the claim isn't contested by RIAA. The news came from an official press release from Spears' camp.

Radio dates reported in infobox need to be identified as such.

After many lengthly discussions at WT:SONG a consensus was reached that a 'radio date = Single creation'. However, it is not called 'Release'. It's really 'sent to radio', 'impacting radio', etc but NOT 'released' to Radio because the industry does NOT call it that.
So when these are listed, (Radio) is NECESSARY to disambiguate the PREFORMATTED field that says "Released:" to indicate it is Radio and not a "RELEASE" (sales). It's really 'sent to radio' , 'impacting radio', 'going for adds' etc. but NOT 'released' to Radio because the industry does NOT call it that.
The other alternative is to not list any date, because there is is NOT a 'release' date, just a 'radio date'.—Iknow23 (talk) 02:31, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

There are a whole list of songs that are just radio adds. Also, any single that is released after the album comes out is just a "radio add" because the song has already been released digitally with the album, unless it is an official remix, like E.T.. List of singles with just U.S. radio releases that dont have (radio) on the infobox

1. Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) - Teenage Dream (Katy Perry album)

2. Firework (song) - Teenage Dream

3. LoveGame - The Fame - the digital download next to U.S. in Radio Add and Release History are two remixes, so they do not count as a digitally released single

4. Radar (song) - Circus (Britney Spears album)

5. California King Bed - Loud (Rihanna album)

6. S&M (song) - originally just a radio release

The industry goes through 'great pains' to avoid calling radio a 'release' by using such phrases as 'sent to radio' , 'impacting radio', 'going for adds' etc. Thus we cannot call radio a 'release' when the industry refuses to do so. It is misleading and inaccurate to put a radio date in the infobox field titled 'release'. Either disambiguate it by adding (Radio) or show no date at all.
Also wikipedia is worldwide. There can exist 'radio only' in the US and actual releases (CD, digital download independent of the parent album, etc.) elsewhere in the world. Where these occur the FIRST date of actual release (independent sales) must be reported in the infobox as that is the name of the field, 'released'.—Iknow23 (talk) 05:12, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
By the way I am in the US, but I realize that wikipedia is worldwide so we cannot be US-specific.—Iknow23 (talk) 05:15, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
Your statement "...any single that is released after the album comes out is just a 'radio add' because the song has already been released digitally with the album..." is not always the case. When a song is digitally released with the album it is not a 'single' but just an 'album track' and 'infobox song' (not infobox single) will be used showing the same release date as the album. A record label CAN release a 'single' before or after the album. Here the single will show a different release (sales) date from the album.—Iknow23 (talk) 05:23, 17 June 2011 (UTC)

Why would you remove the date of the single's release? It is without merit, and it is unnecessary. If there isnt a date, don't have "I Wanna Go" there at all. It must have a release date for it to be on the infobox. And I love how I'm the one in the edit war and the only one being remprimanded, while clearly everyone else is changing your edits and disagrees with you. Gaga690 (talk) 17:51, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

Historically a 'radio only' date would just qualify the song for 'infobox song' and not 'infobox single' until a 'release' which means sales. Think of it this way, a 'Release party' means when a song or album, EP etc. is starting to be sold. A celebration that after MUCH work has been done to now anticipate reaping rewards (money) for their efforts. A 'radio add date' does not receive a 'Release party'.
However, after many lengthly discussions at WT:SONG a consensus was reached that a 'radio date = Single creation'. Thus 'infobox single' is being used for the song at "I Wanna Go". The 'release' field there is noted to be a 'radio' date, as there is no release (sales) date to report. So just bring that info (Radio) over here to the album's infobox for consistency. It is not a 'release' date. It is a 'radio date'.—Iknow23 (talk) 08:37, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

promo CD singles are not 'general' releases and need to be reported appropriately.

Promo releases exist for probably most singles but are generally not reported, but if known and can be sourced...well sure go ahead and add the material. But we must report the material accurately and not in a misleading fashion to the point that readers will think a 'promotional' release is a full release.—Iknow23 (talk) 06:16, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

First of all, "I Wanna Go" is not a promo single. It is a full single with a radio release. Also, even if it were a promo single, (promotional) would not go next to its release date. The same website that says "promo" for "I Wanna Go" also says "promo" for "If U Seek Amy," and that does not have (promotional) next to any of its release dates. Also, "Hair" by Lady Gaga is an actual promo single, and there is no (promotional) next to its release date on the article page.Gaga690 (talk) 18:20, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

The source clearly says, "promo". We must accurately report that. If other articles are in error than shame on them, they need to be corrected. If 'promo' does not want to be 'said' than provide a different reliable source that doesn't say 'promo'. Radio is not called release. Wikipedians have agreed through consensus to call songs with an official radio date a single. But this is still not a 'release'. It is 'sent to radio', 'going for adds' 'impacting songs' etc. 'Release' means 'sales date'. "If You Seek Amy" does not depend upon a 'promo digital single' for a 'release date' because it has other release information available, such as Australia iTunes for one.—Iknow23 (talk) 06:48, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
By your own admission, "I Wanna Go" is not a promo single, since it has a radio "add" date. Gaga690 (talk) 17:49, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
I am not saying that the song itself is a promotional single, thus the infobox single. Yes, it is a single because it "impacted radio" NOT because of a 'promotional release'. The source clearly states that that particular digital single 'release' is promotional. We must report that accurately and cannot alter what the source states.—Iknow23 (talk) 02:21, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

I think this is fine to say. There will probably be a full release later on, with remix EPs and the whole extravaganza. See no need in putting (promotional) in the infobox though, so as you may have noticed, I removed it earlier. nding·start 04:32, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

I believe that 'June 7 (Radio)' should be displayed in the infobox as that is the basis for the infobox single and not the 'promotional release'. Thus the format, Digital download would also be deleted. The promotional release material in the section 'Radio date and release history' is just some additional sourced material but does not constitute (as you put it) a 'full release'. Then just replace the 'June 7 (Radio)' in the infobox [and add appropriate format(s)] when there is an 'actual release' with that date. Yes?-Iknow23 (talk) 04:08, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

It doesn't. "While Spears earned $7.3 million for her half-year on the road, her 2011 album sales of 883,000 were fueled by three Femme Fatale singles, including the No. 1 "Hold It Against Me."

Nowhere in that article, does it say those sales are all from Femme Fatale. In fact, they say 2011 album sales in general which include all of her other albums.--24.187.158.126 (talk) 21:42, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Femme Fatale (Britney Spears album)Femme Fatale (album) – Of the three albums with the name Femme Fatale, Britney's was viewed 115,248 in the last days; the Edvokia Kadi page was viewed 617 times and the Miki Howard page was viewed 423 times, both in the same 90-day range. While Britney's album certainly can't have the plain Femme Fatale title, I don't think it needs the additional disambiguation of her name, as it appears to be the most prominent of the three releases. (And in the event that this wasn't the album a reader was looking for, a hatnote to the disambiguation page should surely be sufficient.) WikiRedactor (talk) 17:16, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

  • Oppose Femme Fatale (Femme Fatale album) would be the most likely confusion, but there are many albums listed in the disambig page, so should have an unambiguous disambiguation term. This is not the primary topic of Femme Fatale, so should have disambiguous disambiguation instead of ambiguous disambiguatory terms. WP:PRIMARYTOPIC only applies to the title "Femme Fatale", no disambiguated title is considered under PT criteria. -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 00:23, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
See Thriller (album) and the nominator's explanation.  — Statυs (talk, contribs) 00:24, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
Femme Fatale is in the same league as Thriller to be able to get WP:IARs? Is Femme Fatale the most popular album in history? It isn't even the most popular Britney Spears album, by a long shot. If you want to argue PT, then the requested target should be Femme Fatale. If not, then it should be umabiguously disambiguated. Thriller can run on IAR justifications. This album isn't in Thriller's league, or even in "Oops!... I Did It Again" league. -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 00:29, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
What does the success of an album have to do with anything? Britney's Femme Fatale is the most known femme fatale, whether or not it's the best selling album of all-time. That's irrelevant; and it's just one of many examples.  — Statυs (talk, contribs) 02:22, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
  • Oppose - as various similar proposals to try and establish a WP:PRIMARY within the parenthetical disambiguation. There is no benefit to anyone of attempting to establish an in-bracket primary, all it does it reduce the benefit/precision of the disambiguation. In ictu oculi (talk) 05:59, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
  • Oppose for similar reasons stated above including the existence of Femme Fatale (Femme Fatale album) and neither album being the clear primary topic. Steel1943 (talk) 16:47, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
  • Comment: In the last 90 days, the band's album page was only viewed 1200 times; compare that with the 115,066 hits Britney's got, and there's no question that her album is the more commonly sought-after release. WikiRedactor (talk) 19:59, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

Requested move (April 2013)

The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was not moved. I supported this move previously and continue to agree with WikiRedactor that it's within policy, but we're clearly against consensus on this matter. --BDD (talk) 23:22, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

Femme Fatale (Britney Spears album)Femme Fatale (album) – I understand that I had opened this discussion just a few weeks ago, but seeing as though the discussion had reached no consensus, I'll take the time to restate my original proposal and supporting rationale. Britney's Femme Fatale got 100,408 views in the last 90 days, compared to 1179 views for the album by the band Femme Fatale and 416 views for Mike Howard. With these numbers, there's no question that Britney's release is the more sought-after topic. There was also opposition due to ambiguous disambiguation, though (as Status (talk · contribs) pointed out) this situation would be very similar to the case of Thriller (album); even though the album couldn't have the plain title Thriller, since it was the more prominent album of its disambiguation by a long shot it was given the plain "album" disambiguation. Same for Femme Fatale. WikiRedactor (talk) 22:53, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

  • Strong oppose there are other albums by this name, and diambiguatory terms should not be ambigous. If this isn't moving to "Femme Fatale", then it should stay where it is. WP:NCM ; WP:PRIMARYTOPIC only applies to the base name "Femme Fatale", and you're not arguing it should be renamed that way. -- 70.24.250.103 (talk) 23:48, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
    • also, Procedural Close nothing has changed in the couple of weeks since the last move was closed, and the nomination is mostly the same. -- 70.24.250.103 (talk) 23:51, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Oppose. If an article requires a disambiguator then it should be by definition unambiguous. Tassedethe (talk) 23:57, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Oppose. Once we have a bracket no case for deleting part of it to make it ambiguous with. Femme Fatale (Femme Fatale album), Femme Fatale (Miki Howard album). WP:PRIMARYTOPIC only applies to the base name. In ictu oculi (talk) 00:09, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Oppose (still). Nothing has changed ... still no basis of proving that this article is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. That, and search engine views do not establish WP:NOTABILITY. Steel1943 (talk) 05:03, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Comment: Straight from the MOS: If there is a primary album, such as Thriller (album), then that would get the primary (album) disambiguation, and only the secondary albums, Thriller (Eddie and the Hot Rods album) or Thriller (Lambchop album) need be disambiguated by band. In regards to establishing primacy, for one, take a look at the chart sections of all the articles. The band Femme Fatale's lists one chart, Miki Howard's lists two (with both albums peaking in the lower end of the Billboard 200), and Britney's lists thirty, all of which are within the top twenty of the country. The other album's were from the 1980s and 1990s, and by the looks of the articles they left no real impact on the music industry; Britney's, on the other hand, had multiple top ten singles and won several awards. Interesting. WikiRedactor (talk) 20:12, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
Note that there are two MOS with near-identical but opposite wording. Original WP:Naming conventions (music) contradicts edit since 18 months ago of WP:MOSALBUM. See also Talk:Thriller (album). In ictu oculi (talk) 05:27, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Femme Fatale (Britney Spears album)

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Femme Fatale (Britney Spears album)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
