Can someone talk about the sensibility behind the series? From hanging around in forums, I gather this space opera has a large female fan base. Why?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.242.69.75 (talk) 11:31, 4 October 2004 (UTC)

Farscape "is superior."98.165.6.225 (talk) 21:11, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
I've been told that people who don't generally like Sci-Fi enjoy it because they don't fill it up with a whole lot of technical stuff. I know my neighbor is a huge fan, and I asked her once how she thought something implausible on the show worked. Her resonse, "Who cares? It just works." --Barry 12:29, Oct 18, 2004 (UTC)
That's probably part of it. I also think it's the characterization, particularly of female roles, that makes it an attractive alternative to the usual "testosterone-driven military hierarchy". Note that on Moya, for example, Crichton is not captain (though he has pretended to be one before). Nor is he the best shooter or best pilot. There's also that on-going (at one time) unresolved tension between Crichton and Aeryn that has some fans salivating for more. You don't find that in Star Trek.A-giau 06:27, 19 Oct 2004 (UTC)
I think a large part of it is that it's basically an hour long drama that happens to be set in space. I'm a big sci-fi fan but to me Farscape is really nothing more than another ER, or NYPD Blue. There's not much science to it. It has various races but other than that, there's not much there besides the drama. I've only recently seen my first episode and I have to admit that the biggest reason for me watching is because Zhaan is such a hottie. And now that I know that they wrote her out, I'll just have to watch for Chiana. Dismas 09:39, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Actually there is a hell of allot more science in Farscape then most corny sci-fi I have ever seen. Does anyone question why in Battlestar Galactica super advanced propulsion technology is driving the fleet, where in every other area of technology from medicine to agriculture to political science everything is 20th century. In Farscape when Crichton actually does get back to earth, the earth scientists can't figure out advanced technology they are like, "cavemen trying to understanda 747." That is more believable then what most other science fiction puts out these days, most junk science fiction I see on sci-fi.98.165.6.225 (talk) 21:11, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Alright, I've started working on many of the pages. Most characters have a page, and I'm working through the races at the moment. --Barry 16:44, Oct 18, 2004 (UTC)

It would be really terrific if this article offered an overview of what Farscape is all about. See Babylon 5 for a good example. I'd really like to get into Farscape, but whenever I try to take in an episode, I end up completely lost as to who's who and what's going on and why. - Brian Kendig 05:16, 19 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Good idea. Working on it. --Barry 12:46, Oct 19, 2004 (UTC)
Alright, I wrote one outlining some of the major idea of Season 1. Any feedback on too much info/not enough info would be appreciated before I finish. --Barry 13:12, Oct 19, 2004 (UTC)
It's a good start, thank you! Using the opening credits voiceover was a good idea. I think the section could certainly use MORE info - this seems to be a complex show, and there seems to be a lot going on. Also, it might make more sense to move the "Lingering questions" section below your synopsis. A couple of questions from reading your synopsis (answer them in the article, not here): What is IASA? Is Moya a race or a single being? Is Scorpius a good guy or a bad guy? I'm also curious about "removing the Control Collar," and you also need to make the verb tense (past/present) consistent through the synopsis. - Brian Kendig 14:13, 19 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Well, moving the section alright. As far as what Moya is, the articles for both Moya and Leviathans are linked. I'm not gonna rehash every article, I'm just aiming to get the basics of the plot down. If you want every little detail, I'll put a link to Sci-Fi Channel's episode guide. Oh, and if you can figure out if Scorpius is good or bad, lemme know, I haven't yet *grin* --Barry 16:40, Oct 19, 2004 (UTC)

Here's an idea - write summaries for each series (not just season 1), and give each it's own page linked to from this article? Dan100 09:51, Dec 23, 2004 (UTC)

That is the idea, but I haven't had alot of free time in a while. I'll be adding it as soon as possible. --GaidinBDJ 19:16, Dec 23, 2004 (UTC)

Why the Show Was Dropped

And : Why Movies Won't Work Well.

One of the big reasons that Farscape went off the air was that it wasn't user-friendly to new viewers after the first half of season 1 or so. Tuning in would yeild almost no backstory beyond the intro, and The Sci-Fi Channel didn't run enough marathons to let people catch up. If there was a movie made, the first half hour would have to be "Previously, on Farscape" ... and that would be sketchy at best.

Has anyone thought about a spin-off? Starting fresh might help avoid some problems.

Rygel and company retaking the Hynerian throne? What is the current status of the Nebari empire? If John and Aeryn did make it back to Earth, wouldn't they have a lot of fun marketing PK inventions?

(just some ideas off the top of my head, more would be welcome)—Preceding unsigned comment added by BigFatDave (talkcontribs) 20:45, 6 January 2005 (UTC)

The show was dropped because of financial issues, not because new viewers couldn't "keep up." You don't see Lost getting dropped and it's frelling confusing if you haven't watched from the start. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Farscapefangirl (talkcontribs) 21:16, 26 March 2006 (UTC) What are those financial reasons? Was the viewership dropping? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 153.18.17.22 (talk) 22:58, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

My two pence

Note to admin: can you move this paragraph below the picture?

It seems to me that the cancellation of Farscape demonstrates the fucked-up nature of television economics. I mean, how dare a handful of executives in New York or LA put a whole army of technicians, actors, writers, directors and producers in Australia (or in other cases, Canada or New Zealand) out of work through a capricious decision to cancel a show?

What's really needed is for TV producers to figure out a new way to finance shows so that in the event of cancellation they could stay in production long enough to negotiate a contract with another network or syndicate. I have no idea how this might be achieved, but it would help to take the power away from the TV execs and into the hands of the producers.

If there's one thing watching TV in the past few years has taught me, it is that people who love TV shows have good reason to hate TV stations. Lee M 04:59, 16 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Farscape is the best television show. I don't get it either. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.165.6.225 (talk) 09:07, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Updates

Now the series has apparently finished, a lot of sub-articles (characters) need to be updated. E.g. "the present location of Jothee is unknown" in his article. pomegranate 22:34, Jan 23, 2005 (UTC)

Needs Work

I think the page neads some clearing up... And some more.. Like stuff about the 2nd, 3rd and 4th seasons? And what's with the repetition of "as a result"?—Preceding unsigned comment added by SweetSurrender (talkcontribs) 23:12, 6 September 2005 (UTC)

Come on...

I changed the title of "Season 1" to just "Plot" since apparently no one can add other seasons. Also, I've reduced the images posted here in the talk section. If someone wants to start adding information about the other seasons, or even expand the plot summary at all, I'll be happy to help out. Initiative is good people. Ereinion 07:35, September 8, 2005 (UTC)

Furlow

Does anyone else think that Furlow shouldn't be added as an ally as she was actually a villian? She never did properly ally herself to the group, as she constantly backstabbed them. Most the people under the "ambiguous allies" subsection did actually turn into an ally; Furlow never did. Cavi81—Preceding unsigned comment added by Cavi81 (talkcontribs) 17:52, 11 October 2005 (UTC)

She wasn't a villain either. She was just opportunistic. So for the time being I think the best place for her is in the ambiguous allies section, atleast until something else could be arranged as far as placement or classification. Ereinion 17:59, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

What is the relationship to Hallmark Entertainment. If you go to the Hallmark website there is nothing about farscape. --24.94.190.164 08:00, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, but I'm not sure if information about specific characters really belongs on a general Farscape article. It does look somewhat incongruous. I think the article is better off where it is, so I'm going to revert. Thanks again. Ben King 23:15, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject: Farscape

Would anyone be interested in setting up a WikiProject: Farscape? There is lots that can be done to improve (and in some places even create!) Farscape-related pages and it would be helpful to have some sort of continuity among the pages, too. If you're interested in helping, check out this page (WikiProject) and if enough people reply I'll try and set something up. Who's in? *g* --Stenun 09:03, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

But beyond the show, what would there be to add?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 153.18.17.22 (talk) 23:00, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Season years

Could someone who knows please add the proper years to the season sections? Preferably in the headers or first line. This would be helpful when researching and add to the "readability" of the article, to get a quicker overview. I'm just assuming it's 1. season - 1999, 2. season - 2000 and so on from the runtime of the show. Thanks in advance Bisco 10:35, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Episode titles?

Question. Where do the episodes titles for the Farscape episodes actually come from? I've watched nine episodes and they're not actually mentioned in the episodes themselves. Why not? They're on the title screen on my DVD version though. Are they officially released, or just invented by fans? --Mark J 21:11, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

They are used on the official Farscape site by The Jim Henson Company. You find every episode name and description there. --DominiqueP 15:56, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

They were originally created by the people producing the episodes to distinguish them from one another. I believe it was in season 3 that they started officially naming the episodes. 153.18.17.22 23:03, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

i think it might have been mid-way through season two that they add the titles to the shows --88wolfmaster 22:29, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

United States

The Jim Henson Company is an American Company. This television series has always been a joint project, regardless of the nation where it was filmed. Bastiqueparler voir 16:14, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

The origin is still australia, perhaps an aditional tag should bne added tot he infobox.. MatthewFenton (talkcontribs) 16:26, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
What "origin"? It was filmed in Australia and produced in the United States. That's why it's got both countries. Bastiqueparler voir 16:40, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
I dont understand, sorry.. How come it be produced in America if its filmed in Aus? MatthewFenton (talkcontribs) 16:46, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Perhaps you should read up on Television_programs. Bastiqueparler voir 16:53, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Well, that comment was a great help.. :-D, This comment helped tho and i understand now.
""Production" has a distinct meaning in the television industry. Production and filming do not have to take place in anywhere near the same location. DS 16:56, 15 August 2006 (UTC)" MatthewFenton (talkcontribs) 17:02, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

To follow the above logic, then the last three Star Wars films are "Australian" because they were filmed there. Same for The Matrix movies. The three companies that primarily produced the series are Jim Henson, Sci-Fi channel and Hallmark - all American based. In fact, I don't think the episodes even AIRED in Australia until after both Sci-Fi and the BBC showed them. RoyBatty42

Farscape is both an American and Australian show. The initial concept was developed in America, the companies that produce the show are American, but the casting, directing, producing and some of the effects and creature designs were done in Australia. Hell, Ben Browder is the only American on the show. Therefore Australia must at least be mentioned.

One thing I find totally anoying...=

Is how they increase the volume to highlight the start/ending and certain special effects. This is the only series where I have to be constantly vigilant about the volume if I dont want my ears blown off.88.11.51.64 11:26, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

starburst edition

Some mention could be made of the starburst edition. 3 cases per season. Apparently with slightly more special features than the regular release.

These have some of the most badly-designed cases in the universe.

Oh, and by default they have subtitles turned on. Lunacy.

No wait.. it's not lunacy, it's a money grab.

-- Sy / (talk) 01:06, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Actually, for new fans the Starbursts are very economical compared to the first sets. You can get each season for under $60 and they do offer a lot of extras. RoyBatty42 19:55, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Help with List of Farscape Episodes

If anyone can spare the time, we have been creating articles for each episode using the List of Farscape episodes as a jumping off point. Another wikipedian has been doing screenshots and created the first info box we use as a template. Need help expanding the synopsis and background info for each. Go to Till the Blood Runs Clear to see what the layout we have been following looks like. RoyBatty42 19:55, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Happy to help out, since I wrote the majority of the episode synopses in the old Farscape episodes page as it is. Never managed to finish them approaching the end of season 1 (sorry! real life sorta interfered for a while) but am happy to hunker down and complete the rest. Give me some time. :) Lordstorm 16:35, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Article rewrite/slim-down

The Farscape article is getting extremely wordy, especially in the season synopses. As we're working on the episode listings already to incorporate more details into individual episode articles, I'd like to rewrite the wordy sections and slim them down if possible, removing extraneous details better off in the episode listings and improving the readability of the main article. Naturally, I wanted to ask permission before changing. :)

Feel free to drop a line on suggestions or queries: if there's no immediate objections, I'll start after the next two days. Sound reasonable? Lordstorm 18:03, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

I have written a lot (well, most!) of the episode synopses. Please feel free to edit them down to be more concise! Sometimes I just go on and on and get way too involved in details. QuizzicalBee 05:31, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Opening paragraph

The intro to this page makes many claims but does not cite them. For example it claims that Farscape is one of a new group of sci-fi shows that explore survival. Which ones?

Second, there's a claim about a feature film but no cite of where this information comes from. Therefore, I think that should be edited, or taken out altogether. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.238.206.115 (talk) 23:39, 27 January 2007 (UTC).

I agree. If the article is going to make such claims it needs to back them up. -- Grandpafootsoldier 08:18, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Template

Okay, I've created a preliminary template for all Farscape related articles. However, a bunch of them seem to me to be rather superfluous or even downright silly (do we really need a whole separate article for Aeryn and John's baby for example?) As soon as I can, I'm going to start merging some of the character articles into the "minor characters" list. -- Grandpafootsoldier 08:18, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Well, apparently there's this quasi-famous drummer named David Kemper (works with Bob Dylan) who myself and I'm sure many others have never heard of and all of the "David Kemper" links we've put into the Farscape related articles link to his article. So, what is needed is someone familiar with using the more complicated Wiki gizmos to use one of those to find all the Farscape articles and replace [[David Kemper]] with [[David Kemper (writer)|David Kemper]] Thanks in advance!RoyBatty42 17:49, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Heads up re: Farscape episode articles

Hi, folks. This is just a heads up to point editors of this article to the discussion here. In short, unless the articles for individual Farscape episodes can be improved, with more content than simply a plot summary and cast list, it's likely that the articles will be turned into redirects to the list of episodes. I've suggested a few sources which can be used to improve the articles, and possibly save them from the chopping block. I hope that there are some interested editors willing to take up the challenge, at least to show that it can be done. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 19:21, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Western

What exactly makes Farscape a science fiction Western? I notice the article (as well as the BSG article) is listed under that category. SharkD 02:50, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Gun slinginig action. its just like Firefly or BSG. think of it as the old west ideas meets space kinda like the anime Trigun.--88wolfmaster 03:08, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Science fiction Western has a pretty narrow definition, which Farscape doesn't fit:
"A science fiction Western is a work of fiction which has elements of science fiction in a Western setting."
Maybe you mean Space Western?SharkD 03:19, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
now i'm confused. Yeah, must be Space Western. --88wolfmaster 21:59, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
I still have to disagree, though. There's no theme of pioneering in Space. Guns aren't enough. Same with BSG (but not Firefly). I think "Space opera" better describes the show. SharkD 04:51, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Hmm...maybe the Farscape project was only really in Season one. But then again, you have the Uncharted Territories, and strectching it Wormhole concepts that fit. But remember its not just about pioneering its applying Western themes to futuristic space settings - so it could be both a Space Western and Space Opera.--88wolfmaster 05:15, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Firefly is a space western. Farscape and BSG? No, they're not. Matthew 09:08, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

problems with FarScape

One of the problems with Wikipedia's insistence on POV-neutral articles (a virtual necessity for an encyclopedia open to public editing) is that there's little critical discussion of a movie or TV series' strengths and weaknesses.

I never fully warmed to FarScape. I didn't like the British-style sound mixing, which rendered dialog hard to understand over TV speakers. I didn't like seeing characters recycled from The Dark Crystal. I especially didn't like the sometimes hard-to-follow stories, which introduced unfamiliar characters without explanation. (I'm not the only viewer who felt this way.) I was annoyed even by trivial stuff, such as an American character having a British family name (Crichton). And who named one of the alien races "Sebaceans" -- did they have unusually greasy scalps? Or oily/waxy cysts?

The thing that really steamed me, though, was the episode in which D'Argo accidentally wounds Crichton, leaving him in a state near death. With its animated sequences of Crichton as the roadrunner battling D'Argo as the coyote, this is one of the greatest series episodes in the history of television. (No kidding.) But the ending is an appalling example of male-male homophobia.

When Crichton and D'Argo "make up", they place their palms together -- through one of Moya's windows! There's no question this was the producer's conscious decision, so that Mr. Browder and Mr. Simcoe, blatant heterosexuals both -- would not have to -- uck! -- touch each other "in the flesh".

Their reconciliation could have been played with far more depth of emotion, with their mutual apologies building to a tentative embrace and a brief kiss of the lips -- perhaps even ending with an intense "manly" hug and a bit of embarrassed laughter from both. Did the producers believe viewers would think Crichton and D'Argo had suddenly turned queer? (I have a married friend, an ex-boss, 100% hetero, who isn't at all bothered when I kiss him on the mouth when we meet or part.)

This scene was not only homophobic, but blatantly hypocritical, because TV series sometimes show women growing emotionally intimate -- or even kissing -- for less reason than Crichton and D'Argo had. Science-fiction and fantasy TV in particular should be more open to stepping outside the boundaries of viewer expectations.

Someone needs to do a careful and thoughtful analysis of FarScape -- its concept, its plotting, its characters and their relationships, etc. Though difficult, it should be possible to do this POV-neutral. WilliamSommerwerck (talk) 14:30, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

For an editor to do this, even in a POV-neutral manner, would be original research. You'll have to find another source that has already done the analysis. — Val42 (talk) 04:41, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Oh shock, there are other cultures out there. DirkvdM (talk) 05:28, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Well to be honest I didn't think that was too much an example of bigotry. In fact I think that they way it ended went to show the truth about both Crichton and D'Argo. Let's face it, do you really think that a character such as D'Argo would hug Crichton at that point. Maybe right after and up to the events featured in the peacekeeper wars but not before. However, it if was an act of blatant hypocritical then I do agree with you. BTW not really good edicate 98.165.6.225, there no need to speak that way.BTJM —Preceding unsigned comment added by AKIRA70 (talkcontribs) 09:30, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

The only "Problems" with farscape is the "Space Yodelling" on the opening theme and the fact that it was cancelled. You're seriously complaining it's not gay enough? How many man on man moments were there in Star Trek? I mean the actor who played Sulu was gay, and I have a theory on the guy who played Riker. Why oh why would they put a scene where an elite alien warrior and an astronaught "make out". I fell i have to be rude just to convey how stupid i find your forum style comments.... hippie210.215.75.4 (talk) 04:55, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

A fitting intro

I've added an introductory paragraph that tries to convey the flavor and general premise of the show. The facts and hard-core information are great and should follow. I'd appreciate any feedback to this contribution. Gistobe (talk) 16:47, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

The section you added seems to sum up pretty well the plot of the show, which is standard in Wikipedia, tho I have issue with the last paragraph which seems more of a subjective, personal opinion rather than just presenting the facts of the show. EdSG (talk) 04:11, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks a lot. I see your point and will edit the second paragraph. (I also removed parts of this thread according to your other suggestion.

the series was initially titled "Far Horizon" when it aired in Australia

it was never called far horizon in Australia. It was always called Farscape. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.167.247.167 (talk) 06:11, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

DVD Formats

I find that regarding the DVD formats the article actually has lost a lot of information. Farscape is IMHO a badly distributed series due a certain amount of incompetence of those with the distribution rights. I say this in terms of cost, availability and format. I have decided to include some of the orginal text in this discussion section for anyone looking to understand how to get hold of the series (see Amazon for example of the confusion). If distributors end up using a single box per season format, then this information would not longer be necessary.

Update: The release of the Farscape: The Complete Series box set should resolve the complaints here. The box set provides the complete series for around $100 USD. Finally! --142.169.202.4 (talk) 19:12, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Region 1 (North America) by ADV Films

Starburst

This appears to be the simplest and most affordable way of getting your hands on the series. It is split up into 12 DVDs, of which there are three per season. Each season is split into three boxes, where the numbering is the form: 'season number.season part'. The covers all share a distinctive yellow 'Starburst Edition' bar on the bottom of the front cover.

Something that is confusing, is that some sellers seem to use different numbering schemes and for example label Farscape 4.1 as volume 10. Another confusing detail is that both Season One and Season Two Farscape Starburst Editions were initally issued on double sided DVDs. After complaints of freezing and skipping ADV rereleased them as single sided DVDs. It is still possible to get the double sided Farscape: Starburst DVDs and the content is identical.

Original Farscape DVDs

ADV previously issued Farscape in volumes that they later combined in box sets. These are known as ADV's Original Farscape DVDs. These box sets differ from the Starburst Editions in that they have many less extras (most notably the brilliant episode commentaries by Ben Browder, Claudia Black, David Kemper and Rockne O'Bannon), cost more money, take up more space and have different cover art. It is still possible to buy the individual volumes as well as the box sets, although the box set is cheaper.

The Original DVDs, while available, are priced differently from the Starburst Editions. As an example season 1 is tagged at 259.95 Canadian Dollars on Amazon.ca. Currently seasons 1 to 4 are available in this format.

The quality of both ADV versions of Farscape are identical although the content is not.

It should be noted that in January 2007 Sony acquired the rights to the first season and at the time of writing (December 2007), they have yet to do anything with the rights. Unfortunately this also means that season 1 is no longer easily available commercially (Starburst included), until Sony decides to publish DVDs for this season.

Peacekeeper Wars by Lionsgate

While available, the region 2 (European Union) DVD is considered to be much better that its region 1 counterpart, so if you have a region free DVD player then this is the one to get.

Region 2 (European Union) by Contender Entertainment Group

All seasons of Farscape plus Peackeeper Wars are available in individual volumes and box sets. Currently the Complete Series (all four seasons) is unavailable.

Region 4 (Australia & New Zealand) by Universal

  • All four seasons of Farscape.
  • Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars by Magna Pacific

non-objective and possibly copied text

Can you say "blurb"? I knew you could.

In the Literature section there is the following (italics mine):

"Farscape Forever!: Sex, Drugs and Killer Muppets" released September 28, 2005; in which Science fiction and fantasy authors analyze every aspect of the innovative, action-packed, and always surprising science fiction tv series in this innovative - irreverent essay collection.

It sounds like someone's copied and pasted advertising copy and, as you can even see from the capitalized S in the first "Science", they probably have - they remembered to drop the quotes but forgot to change the case. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.221.125.141 (talk) 21:45, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Bowdlerized slang

"Farscape's characters frequently make use of Bowdlerized slang such as "frell" and "dren" as a substitute for English expletives. This language may have been inspired by the word "Frak", a term popularized by Battlestar Galactica."

The only problem I see with this quote is that Farscape was out before the new Battlestar Galactica. So, if anything, the bowdlerized slang in BSG was inspired by Farscape. ````BSG and Farscape Fan —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.54.20.242 (talk) 19:31, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Arn=hour Cycle=year fellip nectar=alcoholic drink. Are these "Bowdlerized slang" or just a typical tool of science fiction writers to display the fact that this is "science fiction" and not a non-fiction story. We're all impressed by your knowledge of Shakespeare; heck I didn't know who this Bowdler fellow was until I read about it here; but using made up words isn't censorship, it is a regular tool of science fiction writers to immerse the reader further into the fiction, get a grip.98.165.11.154 (talk) 12:50, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Opps, looks like "Frack"(Frak) was used in the Orginial Battlestar Galactica. ```` BSG and Farscape Fan —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.54.20.242 (talk) 19:35, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Red Dwarf had its own "alienized" expletives as I recall. So Farscape's case might just be an homage to Sci-Fi TV shows in general. SharkD (talk) 01:21, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Farscape DVD's Getting re-released from A&E Home Video

See the original article, but A & E Home Entertainment is due to release Farscape: The Complete Series to DVD this coming November. Not only that, but they have plans to also release individual season sets after the complete series is released.--68.60.89.66 (talk) 23:23, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Expansion of "plot" section

You will notice I have greatly expanded on the "Plot" section of this article. Since very few of the individual episodes have their own pages, I have described the salient points here and included links back to the existing Episodes List page. The existing information that was under the previous "Miniseries" heading has not been lost - I have transferred it to The Peacekeeper Wars' own page, since it was not really plot information anyway but production information. Thanks. Lvsxy808 (talk) 12:04, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Peacekeeper Wars, how long?

The introductory paragraph claims it was 3 hours. However, a later section says it was 4 hours. Perhaps someone should check up on the actual run-time and make all references to Peacekeeper Wars consistent. Heck, even just a single section that sums up the Peacekeeper Wars addition rather than having it alluded to in 2-3 different places would be good...

50.53.113.32 (talk) 23:54, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

Fixed. There may have been some confusion due to how they count time down under in some places regarding tv "the New South Wales Film Office refers to the production as a "2 × 2 hour telemovie" (including commercials)."

Australian? American?

IMHO there is a serious issue here. The series was eventually filmed and shown in Australia, but the idea, scripts and puppets were developed in the US long before the Australian connection.

According one source, Fox asked for a pilot and offered to pay for four scripts pages 11-15. The source also goes on to say that the Sci-Fi channel were involved.

It is not right that this article states "an Australian science fiction television series, produced originally for the Nine Network."

I suggest adopting something along the lines of: "a science fiction television show originally developed in the US but produced for, and shown on, the Australian Nine Network after being rejected by the main US TV networks."

The truth is important, not national rivalry. Chaosdruid (talk) 05:28, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

This is basic information for a Sci-fi show, that should be here. What year is Farscape set in? When does John go into space? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MarshallMolasses (talkcontribs) 22:31, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

So this aticle seriously has a whole section about short promo clips that never actually happened? It is a very strange amount of detail for something that was only developed. Even if it had been released as a DVD extra it is still a very long section and strange amount of detail for something that didn't happen.
