Hi Gotyear. Welcome to Wikiedia! I came across the above deletion debate and hope you don't mind a little constructive criticism. Afd is fairly resource intensive and debates on uncontroversial articles that patently meet WP:CSD should be avoided. A more standard route for the circumstances was to revert the removal of the speedy deletion tag (by clicking on the date stamp in the article's history prior to the removal clicking edit and saving with an appropriate edit summary). You could then tag the remover's talk page with {{drmspeedy-n}} (all templates can be found at Wikipedia:Template messages). If the speedy tag continued to get reverted, you would escalate the warnings—{{drmspeedy2-n}}, {{drmspeedy3-n}} and {{drmspeedy4-n}}. If the article wasn't deleted by that time, and a revert happened after the final warning, you can report the editor at WP:AIAV. Note that reversion of simple vandalism does not violate WP:3RR.--Fuhghettaboutit 22:41, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

RE: Questioning an IP's edits

I think that the user is certainly acting a bit questionable, but as far as labelling the edits "vandalism", I'm not quite sure. Wikipedia defines vandalism as an overt attempt to disrupt Wikipedia. Blanking valid content without an explanation should be reverted and the user should be notified not to blank content without explaining why. Removing requests from RPP should only be done by administrators, as far as I know, and the removals seem to be a bit unwarranted. In giving users warnings, use your best judgement, and it doesn't hurt to personalise the warning, rather than using a standard "test" warning. Thanks for the message, and I hope my response helps! Tagging empty image description pages for speedy deletion

What specifically do you think is wrong with it? The images themselves (and the descriptions) will still exist in commons if the empty description page gets deleted from wikipedia. See your own example, Image:CloudOpticalThickness.jpg, and click edit, there's nothing there. Those empty pages are supposed to be deleted with the exact template you quoted: "This is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image". Is there something I'm missing here? This is the second time in a short while when someone has a problem with deleting empty pages that do nothing. - Bobet 19:17, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi, don't worry about it, I'll probably fix (ie. delete) them eventually. And there's really no fault in what you did, you just happened to get unlucky by having people who weren't familiar with the subject answering at WP:ANI. As an example, I deleted the image page I linked above. As you can see, it's still a bluelink, but if you click on it, you'll see that it doesn't exist on wikipedia anymore (the "image" tab at the upper left corner is red). This is how it should be for the commons images. - Bobet 06:36, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Re: Stopped after last, monitoring

The user hadn't vandalized for 20 minutes, and my block log showed nothing (odd...). Anyway, if an IP vandal stops, we'll often wait until they start again, as blocks are supposed to be preventative, not punitive. Thanks for writing. :) RadioKirk (u|t|c) 18:00, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Autism

Re; Holisticlife promo text-Ta for that. I was away from the computer for a moment and bang, Holisticlife is turning it into an advert.

I have been in education for some time and have a clinical doctorate--I have an interest in this area and after seeing what happened when the article fell from grace as it were, decided to see if I could bring it up to snuff. I have written published works and am still reasonably aware of the strictures of format but do let me know if you see a glitch in my cntributions. There is a lot to keep track of. FYI, an edit to the introduction section of [[Autism}} has been made which, in my opinion, presents problems. It is from one perspective a minor change however, it does seem to wreck havoc with the tone and is in fact an alteration of published fact from the reputable sources cited. I have proposed a change to carry the factual original statement and the alternative--which is absolutely ethical in science to be sure. I readily concede that the DSM and the ICD do represent a theoretical perspective which must be questioned to remain scientific.

Transwiki question

There are two links for this at wiktionary, the first is the one we sent to them, at wikt:Transwiki:By the numbers. The second link, wikt:by the numbers, is a dictionary definition which wiktionary already had in place before we sent them our version of it. Old Bambifan101 business

I think that range was among the ones blocked for a year, but I just blocked the individual account for a year just to be safe and I reblocked the "OddParents" account with denial of talk page access given his history of abuse. I think he may have slipped in through the cracks the other day with an obvious sock, but I clobbered it before he could do any damage. Might have been one he did at a public terminal. Got Bambifan yet again; thanks for alerting me. He's smarter than he leads everyone to believe. I say that because he clearly created some sleeper accounts like this one knowing full well he risked having his internet service shut off.
