Prince Rupert's Tower → Everton Lock-Up – Prince Rupert's Tower is just one of the many nicknames for this structure the most used and historically correct term used to refer to it is Everton Lock-Up. There are two different Prince Rupert related nicknames, one is Prince Rupert's Tower and the other is Prince Rupert's Castle so even people who associate the structure with Prince Rupert are undecided about what to call it. Prince Rupert did indeed visit Everton in the 17th century (1644) but the structure is known to have been built as a lock-up in the 18th century (1787). The Friends of Everton Park have a heritage trail that includes the structure and they refer to the structure in their title heading as The Everton Lock-Up in their on-site information display signage and provide information about it's history and some of its nicknames. They describe both Prince Rupert nicknames as "erroneous" "because the Prince had been in Everton 143 years earlier with his Royalist army." It would be a good idea to have Prince Rupert's Tower and maybe other nicknames redirected to this page under the new title of Everton Lock-Up. C3MC2 (talk) 14:55, 24 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
