Why does the quick info box refer to a spouse if none is metioned in the text body??? --62.245.209.52 00:27, 29 December 2006 (UTC)BinceGC

Oppss...

Sorry guys, i tried to upload an image of the lovely eva and accidently mucked up part of the article. sorry. =[ Zesty Prospect 18:25, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Image

Is there any reason that the picture that is linked in the Casino Royale entry not allowed to be used here? The one at the top of the Vesper_Lynd entry Hoshisabi 22:08, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Yes. WP:FU. --Yamla 22:10, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

The reason I ask is that it's inconsistant with other entries. I did a quick catalog and saw the following other entries that we should change to be consistant, and I'd gladly do the grunt work depending on what others would decide. Also please note, I do not suggest that we upload some new image, my suggestion is that the image which already resides on the server be reused for this particular entry, similar to other entries.

In that case, I suggest that the following other Bond girls pages be edited, so as to make them compliant. The following pages also use the promotional stills from the movie in which they starred: Sophie Marceau, Ursula Andress, Eunice Gayson, Izabella Scorupco, Daniela Bianchi, Shirley Eaton, Claudine Auger, Luciana Paluzzi (who oddly, had a typo in the tag in her Bond entry, which I fixed), Molly Peters, Akiko Wakabayashi, Mie Hama, Diana Rigg (who also has her role as Emma Peel from the Avengers in her entry), Angela Scoular, Jill St. John, Britt Ekland, Maud Adams, Barbara Bach, Lois Chiles, Corinne Clery (along with another which appears to be a magazine scan), Carole Bouquet, Kristina Wayborn, Tanya Roberts, Serena Scott Thomas, Rosamund Pike, Carey Lowell, Talisa Soto (includes a still from Mortal Kombat as well),

The following have no picture, but if it is decided that putting the promotional still from the movie that they starred in (with appropriate attribution) is sufficient, then they could also be updated to be consistant: Honor Blackman, Fiona Fullerton

Finally, only the following have pictures in their own links with no connection to their Jomes bond work: Karin Dor, Lana Wood, Jane Seymour, Lynn-Holly Johnson, Teri Hatcher, Michelle Yeoh, Denise Richards, Halle Berry, Caterina Murino, Maryam d'Abo, Famke Janssen (though these images are not in the "Typical" placement) Hoshisabi 22:40, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

We cannot use a fair-use image to depict a living person. If you find other living people with fair-use images, please remove the image if it is used legitimately in other articles or if it is not, please tag it with {{subst:rfu}}. It is not appropriate to violate WP:FU here simply because some other articles also do so. --Yamla 22:52, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the information, that's what I was trying to determine and also why I was discussing this in the talk page. I had thought that there might be a reason for it. (And honestly, while you were typing your response, I had just done a bit of research and ran across Wikipedia:Elimination of Fair Use Rationale in Promotional Photos, so I understand the justification. What an odd position to have to take, but I understand the rationale. About half or more of the entries that I linked are in violation of this policy, so I appreciate your advice on how to proceed. I can go ahead with the grunt work for some of the updates now that I know. Hoshisabi 22:56, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Franklyn

Why does the Franklyn link redirect to Ewan McGregor ? Ewan McGregor is no longer in the cast — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.228.194.253 (talkcontribs) 16:24, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Photo policy

I am sure Wikipedia policy does not forbid use of screenshots. While there are many articles which has the photo-notice issued in the present article, there are many others that have used screenshots. Would it not be proper, under the circumstances, to use a screenshot from any movie, etc? Priyatu 10:51, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Fair-use images, including film screenshots, may not be used solely to depict a living person. Please see WP:FU. We absolutely cannot use a film screenshot to depict Green, as has already been pointed out here. --Yamla 15:17, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Eva Green Web

The reason I added the link: http://www.evagreenweb.com was because it is an up to date site on all things that deal with Eva. They include appearances, movies, interviews, biography etc. and I figured it was a good site to be added to the external links section for people who want to learn more about Eva. It also seems the webmistress also keeps in touch with Eva's agent on some sort of basis. So that's why I think the link should be included in the external links section. El Greco 13:14, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Please reread WP:SPAM and WP:EL. Fansites are not appropriate links. --Yamla 14:39, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
So you'd exclude sites like Outpost Gallifrey from Wikipedia too? Spam is a blog, not a major fan site that appears on the first page of Google hits. Alientraveller 08:55, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Fansites are generally considered inappropriate. That this one in particular contains numerous copyright violations does not help matters. The policy consensus is that fansites should not be added unless in exceptional cases. That the site appears in the first page of google hits is most certainly not exceptional. This particular site was discussed on WP:ANI and deemed to be inappropriate. Matters are slightly different if it is an official fan site but that is not the case here as far as I am aware. --Yamla 16:26, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Fine, I'll leave it. I'm not bothered to deal with rigid people like you. Alientraveller 16:48, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Images needed for GA

The legal issues surrounding images are truly bewildering. Reading over the discussion here and on some of the links, I am left baffled. But certainly, for this article to achieve GA, it seems like there should be at least one image, if not two. Has anyone attempted to find a free photo of Green for the infobox? And it seems like a fair use screenshot of a key character moment from The Dreamers and/or Casino Royale would be very helpful too. I'm hesitant to do a GA review when there are no images. Visuals are certainly very valuable in the case of actors. --Melty girl 18:27, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

I've tried looking for one on Flickr, but alas, no. However, Wikipedia:What is a good article? states "A lack of images does not disqualify the article from GA status." Alientraveller 18:34, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Good to know that someone has tried. But don't you think there might be a screenshot which provides valuable illustration for the prose about a particular role or roles? --Melty girl 18:39, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Possibly, if it is being used for critical commentary. Not in the infobox, though. --Yamla 19:13, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Exactly. I meant for the body of the article to illustrate a point. --Melty girl 19:21, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

GA pass

Okay, the article is short, but so has Green's career been. Its as detailed as it possibly can be at this time. Yeah I'd love a free use image too, but there isn't one, so that's that. All in all, this article is fine, great job. Gran2 15:28, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! Alientraveller 15:29, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
I added another image, and if you wish, there are two other ones from the same BAFTAs that can be used as well. One is a closeup of her face and the other has her looking off to the side. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 04:53, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Cruft?

How can someone's favourite works of art be cruft? A person's favourite film, music etc. can tell a lot about a person and their personality. Green's been noted for her melachony screen persona and that her favourite film was directed by Ingmar Bergman or that she doesn't listen to hard rock adds a lot to a reader's understanding. Alientraveller (talk) 19:59, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

How is it useful to an encyclopedia? Okay, the line about Cate Blanchett and Kirsten Dunst is not cruft. But Green is a museum visitor, loves music... does it help? Her career isn't on museums and music. Ultra! 13:57, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
But it gives you an idea into her personality. Who she is when she's not on film. El Greco(talk) 14:49, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Composer? Also, name pronounciation

I removed the reference in the introduction to her being a composer as nowhere in the article is it indicated what she composed, and none of her notable work appears to be connected with the composing field.

In addition, I think it might be helpful to indicate the official pronounciation of her name. According to a televised interview I saw, her name apparently is pronounced like "evergreen" as "evah-green". But this should be confirmed as that could have been a mispronounciation. 23skidoo 09:53, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

It is stated in the article that she composed the score to The Dreamers. I will reinstate what you should not have deleted. Please read articles more carefully before making such deletions. --Scottandrewhutchins 17:18, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
Does composing the score for one movie really make one a composer? Perhaps we should find other instances of her composing. --Phoenix Hacker 21:45, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
    • According to the sources listed on this article as well as the film's IMDB page, she did not compose the score. One of the websites linked here merely says she "wants to compose film scores someday." I think this was just a mistaken edit that got blown out of proportion, unless someone can point me to a source that says otherwise. So, I'm deleting both references.--Dmz5 23:03, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
Green is a fairly common Swedish surname and is pronunced with a long e-sound, represented in IPA by /e:/. This sound does not exist in English, and should not be confused with the long i-sound spelled 'ee' in English 'green' /gri:n/ nor with the diphthong /ei/ as in English 'day'. JdeJ 15:53, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

The pronunciation guide given in the lead doesn't seem to match the one given later in the article. I personally have never actually heard anyone introduce her as "Eva GRAIN", not even on the recent Academy Awards telecast. Although there is that one interview in which she says this, I think it might be helpful to include a second source for this. 23skidoo 20:48, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Here's the thing. We as Americans may look at the name and think it's pronounced "GREEN", but what we don't take into consideration is the origin of that name and how it's pronounced in that country. Take Henry IV of France, it is really King "HENRI" IV. So in that respect those who think it's Eva "GRAIN" may or may not be right. El Greco 22:19, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Why don't someone go put the IPA for the FULL name since it is already there? -Spansign (talk) 04:10, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Casting in Antichrist/Un Secret

I have altered and corrected these two entries. The previous Antichrist statement not only inferred opinion on the character ('self-mutilating, seemingly anti-feminist') but also contradicted the present source when citing the reason for her unsuccessful casting: 'director Lars Von Trier found her contract too complicated' as opposed to, 'her agents refused to allow her.' I added a reference for the Un Secret casting entry.Thomasrussellhughes (talk) 22:17, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Also remove the "of Jewish heritage" bit. are we now quantifying exactly what heritage every one of her grandparents are. it is irrelevant and racialist. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.144.191.39 (talk) 14:21, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

also I can find no mention of Marlene Jobert being Jewish -- just "of Jewish descent" -- so that claim at AV club seems incorrect —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.144.191.39 (talk) 18:48, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Marlene Jobert says she is Jewish here. The AV Club is a reliable source. And Wiki articles always state ethnicity. It's pretty common practice. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 19:04, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

FYI, I will continue to remove this chauvinistic Jew-tagging until it is removed. Might as well lock the page now. Thx. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.10.44.167 (talk) 22:29, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

What, is being Jewish not good enough for you people? Are you Frenchies ashamed that your favorite actress is Jewish? She is half Jewish, so I am adding that category to this article, despite the objections of Communist anti-Semites. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Qwertymidjkl (talkcontribs) 23:59, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

She does say she is Jewish. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 00:21, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Edit request on 10 October 2012

In Eva Green's Filmography section the film that she is currently starring in Official name for 300: Battle of Artemisia is actually 300: Rise of an Empire. Based on IMDB link http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1253863/ 38.106.229.66 (talk) 17:14, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

Done; also noted that the Wikipedia article has been moved to this title. —KuyaBriBriTalk 18:33, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
