Original research/Synthesis? edit

Is it just me, or does it seem like some of this article, especially the style section, contains an original synthesis or interpretation? It doesn't really look like a lot of the interpretive parts are coming from the sources here, and if they are they should probably be directly attributed instead of being stated as plain fact. wp:NOR

Most of the "sources" cited seem to be online auctions etc. Needs some patient attention from somebody knowledgeable in this area. ωεαşεζǫįδ 20:22, 25 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yep, there are some book sources cited which might talk about the Etaples colony, but much of the article is creatively made up based on snippets of info about the individual artists. It will be a lot of work to sort it all out. Sionk (talk) 01:25, 26 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
The museum of the artists in Etaples (1882-1914) will be open in 2017. Yours, --5.51.235.39 (talk) 12:11, 4 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
I've taken a stab at removing some of the obvious editorialization and chattiness. In additon there are a small number of decent sources which actually address the subject of the artists' colony, I've expanded their decriptions where possible. This is still far from being a decent, believable article, unfortunately. Sionk (talk) 11:35, 4 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

The article still has numerous issues edit

- The first one is the heading which misspells Étables - not the best of starts. - The next issue for me is that whilst an art colony did exist in this area before the Great War it was more a loose , disparate collection of artists, unrelated to each other. The article makes it seem as if there was a movement such as the Barbizon school. - There are some factual errors and irrelevant links ie Eugène Chigot didn't win first prize at the Salon in 1891 (I believe it was a third class prize which is good but not the best). The link is dead so a citation is now needed. - The article contains too many, non-specific to the subject, references. It requires severe editing to remove subjective comment. - I found this article elsewhere on the Web so was it pasted from there or vice-versa. - A bugbear of mine is the use of English titles for French paintings. I'm helped by being reasonably fluent in written but the translations for some of the paintings titles are wrong. - The term 'Opal Coast' was first used in c 1911 just before all these artists had to leave as a result of the start of the Great War.

It seems to me that the original writer started this article with good intentions but maybe lost control of it. It is a big subject with limited references. Dorkinglad (talk) 12:21, 26 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
