Advertising/White sheeting

edit

I know it reads like the white sheet from their PR department, but there really aren't a lot of successors to the Geo Metro/Suzuki Swift. Heck, it even has a 3-cyl engine with mid 2-digit HP!  ;) I'm requesting maybe an expansion and cleanup to make it look less like an ad. Elio shouldn't be editing the actual text (in fact this article looks like it was written by a fan of them or an employee), but maybe they could supply us with some engine images or specification tables(say, compression, tire size, weight, cargo limit, etc.)? Until these get 'out there', no one outside of Elio Motors will know? I'm not enough of an expert on them, so I probably shouldn't be doing the article, myself. Thanks for any help, though! 71.196.246.113 (talk) 18:26, 18 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Advertising

edit

This definitely looks like advertising and completely absent the criticisms of their many, many delays. The vehicle promised has been 9-12 months from production for over three years now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:4930:121:0:E59C:EB8:AC0A:288E (talk) 21:32, 11 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Add a section on controversies to include delays (include valid references). Be Bold. Other than that it presents facts released by the company others and doesn't appear to be any more of an advertisement than pages of other autos and startups. Sources for specs and other data presented before production tend to rely on the manufacturer's released statements since no public or 3rd party tests have been performed. This read like an Ad

edit

Please remove this article from wikipedia until a more encyclopedic one is written, if ever. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.18.226.199 (talk) 21:06, 16 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Be bold, feel free to add and edit this article to meet Wikipedia standards.Dmm1169 (talk) 21:58, 16 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
It is plenty informatic, and saves beating down the whole company website to get information. It's why Wikipedia exists. Also, for all of those who claim that this "reads like an ad" please provide the sections that you feel are false and a remedy. I don't work for EM, but this is getting to be insane.L3X1 (talk) 17:34, 11 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Gov't funding/loan program?

edit

IIRC, Elio applied several years ago for some sort of US federal gov't alternative transportation funding. If anyone knows anything about that, and the application's current status, adding that would be worthwhile. Phantom in ca (talk) 01:57, 5 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

From what I understand, Last year they submitted their application for the program and late last year they received conformation of passing the first of three phases to get the loan. I'm not sure what happened since. Dmm1169 (talk) 03:11, 5 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Need to separate vehicle from Company?

edit

When will be the right time to create a separate article for the P5/6 instead of lumping it in with the Company. I fell that this is why it reads so much like an advert. Separating the rsatwo will make maintenance easier, and more infromation could be written in. Also, info regarding the vehicle (such as pictures, tables, charts, as referneced above) could be easily added. Thanks. If you want me to get on something mui pronto leave a note on my talk page. This company appears to be currently a 1-vehicle company, so currently the vehicle is the company. Looking at wiki-pages of other startup auto manufacturers, it seems the time to create pages for the individual vehicle is when the company has multiple models causing it's page to become too lengthy.Dmm1169 (talk) 13:59, 13 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Dmm1169 hopefully Elio hops to it and starts to generate stuff for the new year. L3X1 (talk) 00:54, 16 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Company is floundering, and has been for years; and the article could use a good rewrite

edit

I updated a few things in the article based on existing sources today.

But there is (apparently) a lot more news coverage of this company and their decade-long attempt to field a three-wheel cycle-car. Jalopnik has written several other articles from 2017-2018 to cover the news (Jalopnik Elio articles), whereas it looks as though most of the mainline automotive press does not even cover Elio news much. The town of Shreveport is unhappy (2017) and Elio had only a few thousand $ in the bank at the beginning of 2018. They seem to have found a couple million dollar investment in the past 24 months... but really nothing to show this car is going to be able to enter production.

These sources could be used to update the article and better reflect the actual situation of the company. And the lede does not currently even summarize the sorry state based on the existing prose in the body of the article. Cheers. N2e (talk) 12:50, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
