Jr.? edit

Presumably this is Edward William Pou Jr. and not the person who served in the North Carolina General Assembly of 1868–1869.? FloridaArmy (talk) 18:03, 5 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

11 month title truly top of the fold worthy? edit

"From March 1933 to April 1934, he was the longest-serving current member of Congress"

Without any historical context (is there a wiki list of the lineage of longest-serving current member of Congress? What about house vs senate?) this aspect doesn't seem remarkable to be the first piece of information the audience learns before expanding further into his biography.

A worthy alternative maybe that he had James Webb as a staff member? /s Dvlpmnt (talk) 04:00, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

New deal & physical assistance edit

JW's page has more info about Pou than his own page does.

Webb began his long career in public service in Washington, D.C., by serving as secretary to U.S. Representative Edward W. Pou of North Carolina from 1932 to 1934. Pou was chairman of the Rules Committee and Dean of the House. With Webb's assistance, Pou was influential in pushing through the first legislation of Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal during the first hundred days of Roosevelt's term. In addition to his secretarial duties, Webb provided physical assistance to the aging and ailing Pou.
