Splashed Mitsubishi G4M edit

I'm thinking the picture of the downed Betty is somewhat misleading should be removed, unless that particular picture was one of the planes that O'Hare actually shot down. The Mitsubishi G4M has the same picture with no mention of O'Hare, so I'm assuming it's just a generic wartime shot Masterblooregard 21:09, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have changed the description of the picture (taken at Tulagi, 1942) [1]: "Photo (taken later in the war) of a splashed Mitsubishi G4M1 Betty, the same type of Japanese bomber, O'Hare encountered." Felix c 17:30, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

A small point about the G4Ms edit

In the opening paragraph it is stated "when he single-handedly attacked a formation of nine heavy bombers approaching his aircraft carrier" - the Betty was a medium bomber <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_G4M> (while a Betty would be much "heavier" than a typically encountered carrier-based bomber, and it sounds more impressive for him to have 'single-handedly attacked a formation of nine heavy bombers', his exploit of splashing five of nine attacking medium bombers was still not too shabby for a lawyer's kid from St. Louis!)143.85.78.18 (talk) 21:50, 13 May 2016 (UTC)CBsHellcatReply

Photo of 'Butch' O'Hare at 'Wake Island' October 1943. edit

Wake was in Japanese hands from late 1941 until the end of WW II in September 1945 so the photo caption stating it was taken on Wake in 1943 is false. — Preceding unsigned comment added by William von Zehle (talk • contribs) 00:22, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Photo was taken aboard a carrier ("on Wake" in 1943 would be definitely false). Caption "O'Hare and leading crew chief Williams 'Chief Willy' ... talk things over at Wake, October 5, 1943" is literally from the book "Fateful Rendezvous: The Life of Butch O'Hare". Perhaps the following wording would be more precise, "...talk things over NEAR Wake..." 84.56.168.225 (talk) 18:16, 24 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Paragraph re Last Mission says O'Hare's group 'catapulted' at "(time)". USS Enterprise had One Hangar Deck catapult, but NO flight deck catapults. It's VERY unlikely (near certain) that O'Hare's mission group were catapulted off Enterprise that evening. (just saying) 23.116.5.207 (talk) 00:41, 10 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
