QC?

Herring was appointed KC in 1936. It appears to me that by the time of the corination, he was no longer practising at the bar. i.e. Was he ever a QC? Pdfpdf (talk) 05:30, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes. Although he never practiced law again after the Second World War, appointment as a KC is for life. He remained on the list and so automatically became a QC in 1953. He continued to use the post nominal. It is not uncommon for a judge to resign and practice as a senior counsel again. Hawkeye7 (talk) 09:30, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Edit request from 99.34.26.78, 2 September 2011

In section Between the Wars, second paragraph: "Herring ... practice in and died of cancer in mid 50s then his wife victoria.... " Apparently a previous edit dropped some continuity and leaves a garble. Possibly entire sentence can be eliminated, in any case reference must be cleared up as Herring obviously did not die of cancer.

Monash: Lawyer and engineer

Why delete that Monash was an engineer? He is more famous for having been an engineer than a lawyer, and never practised law, according to his article. Grassynoel (talk) 03:51, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

True, but the context is a comparison with Herring, who was a lawyer but not an engineer. We could drop the "and lawyer" if you think it would confuse readers. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 04:10, 7 December 2018 (UTC)
