Edgewater Glen edit

I dispute the idea that Edgewater Glen boundaries extend north beyond Granville and south beyond Norwood. The only source for that idea comes from the ChicagoHome.com real estate site. I understand that neighborhood boundaries often exist only in people's minds and that real estate buyers and sellers minds are real, but the customary boundaries for Edgewater Glen are now and have been more narrowly defined as I suggest. http://www.edgewatercommunitycouncil.org/ClubMap and http://www.edgewaterhistory.org/ehs/tours/060917 and http://www.edgewaterhistory.org/ehs/tours/000917 where the name is sourced: "In the early 1970s the area was united as a community with a neighborhood organization called the Edgewater Glen Association". See also this map from the 1980,s from interviews from either 1976 or 1978: http://edgewater-glen-association.tumblr.com/image/86508775178 It is my intention to rewrite the Edgewater Glen section sometime in the next few months. Andersonville edit

Andersonville is not part of Edgewater. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mjszanto (talk • contribs) .

Edgewater is bounded by the Lake, Foster, Ravenswood and Devon, an area that includes Andersonville. JeremyA 05:45, 27 November 2005 (UTC)Reply
Andersonville is officially an enclave of the Edgewater community area, as designated by the City of Chicago. --Gerald Farinas 03:25, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Edgewater is the offical designation of area 77 by the City of Chicago. Andersonville is a sub neighborhood of Edgewater.
Andersonville is to Edgewater what Wrigleyville or Boys Town is to Lakeview.
According to the Edgewater Wiki entry: "Edgewater is bounded by Foster on the south"... Besides poor spelling (Edgewater is BOUND by..) Please look at this: Uptown Map I only mention this because with Winnemac as the southern border of Andersonville (per the Edgewater entry), then Andersonville is both part of Uptown AND Edgewater, with Andersonville TERRACE strictly part of Uptown, continuing down Clark, to Lawrence, over to Broadway and back up. This area has been called Andersonville Terrace for a considerable amount of time also, and the comment that says "RECENTLY real estate agents have also started using Andersonville Terrace for this area as far south as Argyle Street, in an attempt to capitalize on Andersonville's popularity. " should be taken out. Both the Uptown AND Edgewater articles should both be modified to reflect the fact that Andersonville overlaps into both community areas. Anyone? Also, see: Andersonville.org - Where We Are
"Bounded" is appropriate. Per OED: "bounded, ppl. a.: That has bounds or limits; that has its limits marked." Transmarginal (talk) 19:08, 15 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Article Movement edit

In order to streamline the style in which all the articles about the individual Chicago community areas on Wikipedia are written, this article needs to be renamed Edgewater, Chicago and not Edgewater (Chicago). The other Chicago neighborhood articles are likewise titled. --Gerald Farinas 03:32, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Go Fish/Andersonville? edit

Not a huge deal, but the movie "Go Fish" actually doesn't depict lesbians in Andersonville. It is set in Wicker Park in the early 90s, when Wicker Park was arty/boho. I have a source, but not sure I should change it all willy-nilly.

  • If it's wrong it shouldn't be there. I'd put the link to your source on this talk page, and mention it in the comment when you remove the incorrect text. If someone disagrees they can always revert it.--Areia 19:25, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
    • This is correct, Go Fish was filmed in Wicker Park, not Andersonville. I'm going to change it. See published script, Rose Troche and Guinevere Turner, Go Fish.--Lawrlafo (talk) 04:25, 6 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sources edit

The gay and lesbian section has no sources and is written in a way that it is total POV. i.e. "Unexpected surge", "land values have skyrocketed". This is an encyclopedic article and not a forum. Wikipedia should stick to facts. I placed the {{Totally POV-disputed-section}} tag. Vseferović 18:36, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have replaced the unsourced claims with actual figures from gaydemographics.org—hopefully this resolves the problem. —Jeremy (talk) 19:33, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
This works. Now it is based on factual information. Thanks, Vseferović 22:22, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Edgewater Presbyterian Church edit

Edgewater Presbyterian Church recently got redone as a stub due to WP:COPYVIO. Should it be merged into this article, expanded in place, left as a stub, or removed? If it is left, secondary sources are needed to address the {{primarysources}} flag someone recently added. Merging makes sense only if Edgewater gets a section on historical churches, historical buildings, or historical institutions. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 14:34, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Map edit

I added a map to the box but if you have a better map, please replace it.Alanscottwalker (talk) 00:38, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Removal edit

Content relating to the gay and lesbian community is continuously being removed and reverted. See the edit history of this article. 173.66.67.195 (talk) 18:52, 22 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
